U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Citizen petitioners have filed, and now begun to gather signatures, to take away your gun rights on the 2022 ballot:
Initiative Petition (IP) 17 seeks to:
-
- Require you to obtain a permit to acquire a firearm
- Create a firearm and permit database of your personal information maintained by state police
- Ban ammunition magazines over 10 rounds
Initiative Petition (IP) 18 seeks to:
-
- Ban semi-automatic firearms (includes more than 100 models of handguns, rifles, and shotguns & 10 generalized categories of semi-automatic firearms)
Despite recent data showing that guns being used in Portland’s rising crime rates are coming from 3 sources – stolen, straw purchases, and the underground market (all already illegal means) – these anti-gun citizens are coming after YOU, the law-abiding firearm owners of Oregon, and YOUR guns. They don’t care about the Constitution, your right to keep and bear arms, or your God-given right of self-defense. The NRA will stand with you to fight these blatant infringements on the Second Amendment!
Anti-gun petitioners are gathering signatures – DO NOT SIGN INITIATIVE PETITION 17 or 18!
Oregon’s initiative process allows citizens to propose laws or amendments to the state Constitution. Initiative petitioners must gather and submit a required number of signatures and, if reached, the initiative is placed on the ballot for voters to adopt or reject.
The NRA submitted comments opposing IP 17 and IP 18 to the Secretary of State and Oregon Attorney General. Recently, the Oregon Supreme Court denied the Oregon Firearms Federation’s court challenge to IP 17 and IP 18’s misleading ballot titles and summaries. This denial allows the initiative petitioners to begin collecting signatures in order to qualify the initiatives for consideration on the 2022 ballot. Petitioners must now gather 112,020 signatures for IP 17 and IP 18 to reach the ballot in 2022. They have not yet qualified for the ballot in 2022.
Additional information on the anti-gun initiative petitions:
IP 17 would require you to obtain a permit from local law enforcement in order to acquire a firearm. This permit would require you to complete an approved “safety” program. You must pay for this permit, and its only valid for 5 years. You may have to wait up to 30 days for this permit to be issued. IP 17 would also create a state police database of firearms and firearms permits. These permit requirements are in addition to current background check requirements. IP 17 also seeks to ban ammunition magazines over 10 rounds.
IP 18 would prohibit the manufacturing, possession, and transfer of listed semiautomatic firearms. Any currently owned firearms on the list must be registered or surrendered to police. Firearm dealers must remove the listed firearms from the state, or dispose of them. Commonly owned rifles, handguns, and shotguns are included on the list, found here:
Please, do NOT sign either petition and encourage your friends and family to refrain from signing the petitions as well. The NRA will continue to monitor the status of signature gathering and keep our members updated.

Sorry, I don’t live in California anymore. I am a freeman. I intend to live that way.
All businesses in Oregon that are firearm related need to relocate to a communist free state . The taxes they pay should not support these anti American agendas . Time for Leupold to move to Montana !
Anyone else look at the list? Pretty much looks like they went shopping on line to see what scary things they could find. About the only firearms I have which are not on the list are those which may have been used to kill someone before I acquired them. Both propositions appear to be begging for forceful noncompliance- which may be the point. “See everybody – these people are nuts enough to fight us over a few minor common-sense restrictions. Clearly only crazy people want anything beyond double barrel shotguns, black powder deer rifles and revolvers. Let’s ban it all!”… Read more »
Seems they took New Jersey’s list and expanded/updated it with more “scary guns” https://www.njsp.org/firearms/pdf/062408_title13ch54.pdf
Ha! A permit to even purchase a firearm? And then they wanna tell me which ones I am “allowed” to buy? He can shove that bill right up his backside. No American needs permission to build, buy, own, possess or use any bearable arms, per the law of the land. SCOTUS even said all bearable arms are protected, even those not in existence at the time of the founding, and not only those particularly suited to military use, thus including military spec weapons. Make civil disobedience the national pastime!
Make non-enforcement of unconstitutional laws a national pastime.
The three amigos want “civilians” to risk imprisonment instead of enforcers risking their pension.
Here in NJ, the list doesn’t do a darn thing – criminals still have all the items on the list at their disposal. Meanwhile we get stuck with 10 round mags and neutered SA shotguns because pistol grip ones are so darn dangerous!
well, come ON man!!! Would YOU want to peer down that huge hole in the business end of the muzzle of a SA shottie? No? Me too neither. (nor would I do the same for a .410………..) Last I recall, the lowly .22 WRF has been used to bring more individuals to room temperature than any other cartridge, not including combat situations I’ve come to the conclusion that if I had to choose only ONE firearm to hang on to it would be my trusty Ruger 10/.22. I mean the one bought prior to NICS. He said “that’ll be seventy… Read more »
begin showing up for protest rallies with Grandpa’s Marlin thutty thutty, and/or twelvebore double. Maybe a large quanity of crusty old wheelguns. AFTER they all wet their pants over this “frightful” display of “terror”, maybe a few will realise just how stupid/insane they are. Not likely, but possible. Maybe begin to learn where they are planning to gather signatures, show up there obviusly and legally armed with weapons NOT on the lists… talk with folks and explain why these proposed laws are illegal, unconstitutinal, ineffective, etc. Or maybe show up with the more innocuous/less “scary” of the weapons on their… Read more »
Seriously are these people nuts? 3. A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least one of the following: (B) Any grip of the rifle, including a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock or any other stock, the use of which would allow an individual to grip the rifle in a manner resulting in any finger on the trigger hand, in addition to the trigger finger, being below any portion of the action of the rifle when firing ALL RIFLES ARE GRIPPED BELOW THE ACTION. So a Remington 742 Semi-Auto 30-06 would become illegal. So would your vintage… Read more »
Oregonians concerned about their rights should be looking for signature gatherers and putting together their own informational “booth” immediately adjoining the siggats and informing people about what’s going on.
Free speech, baby.
I have been preaching for about a year and a half now about how oreGONE sucks. Now you see one of the reasons why. My constitutional right is not for sale and cannot be taken away with a vote I don’t care what your statute says. They can obtain all the votes they need in Portland and that isn’t even a 1/4 of that shit holes people. VERY FIRST TIME I. HAVE EVER SAID THIS ON AMMOLAD. Fuck you antigunners and fuck the bisexual governor Kate shit stain brown. I wonder with this special session that is supposed to be… Read more »
