U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Yesterday, the Denver City Council voted to pass a bill banning custom-made firearms, referred to as “ghost guns.”  The measure now heads to the desk of Denver Mayor Michael Hancock.  Please contact Mayor Hancock and ask him to OPPOSE this “ghost gun” measure.

Last year, Governor Polis signed SB21-256 into law, giving cities and local governments in Colorado the authority to establish their own gun regulations that are more stringent than state law.  Using this authority, the Denver city council has now criminalized custom gun makers and their customers by passing a bill banning “ghost guns.” Repealing the state preemption law gave the anti-gun-controlled city council the opportunity to push their encroachment on the Second Amendment, instead of tackling the real issue of crime.

There is scant evidence that these types of custom firearms are used in crimes in Denver or any other city in Colorado. Criminals are not interested in costly equipment and the time-consuming and laborious process of manufacturing their own firearms when they can simply remove serial numbers from firearms to achieve the same purpose.  When asked about whether these types of firearms are a problem, the Denver Chief of Police told the council that they rarely run into “ghost guns.”

The measure makes it unlawful in Denver to create, carry, transport, discharge or sell guns that do not have serial numbers.  Breaking the law could result in forfeiture of the gun, a fine of up to $999, and up to 300 days in jail. The bill will go into effect immediately after Mayor Michael Hancock signs it into law.  Again, please contact Mayor Hancock and ask him to OPPOSE this “ghost gun” measure.

Thank you to our NRA members who contacted their City Council to oppose the “ghost gun” bill.  Stay tuned to NRA-ILA Alerts for more information and updates on Second Amendment issues in the Centennial State.

Boulder, CO must still be smarting from their court loss to ban firearms and paying plaintiff’s legal fees. So the activists moved to Denver which has a bigger pocketbook. Still going to have the same outcome but will cost more money to ligagate before recovery of legal fees. Keep suing the bastards!

Good luck with that…

This is what happens when communists invade your state. They destroy your freedom and way of life. After they have destroyed your state they move to the next free state and start the process again.

This is happening on a very large scale during this scamdemic and it’s all part of the great reset.

Keep you powder dry and close to hand.

They have also invaded our government. known as DEMOCRATS in this nation.

Serial numbers were not REQUIRED on any gun in USA before 1968 mfgr. Quality makers used SN for their own purpose of warranty. Millions of guns made from late 1800 to 1968 new had a SN. Grinding off a SN does not make it unrecoverable. The stamping alters the steel, bras s or other material A small tip welding torch and filler rod does the trick. But who really cares? Armed robbery and carjacking aren’t even prosecuted anymore. Guns are stolen, whipped clean of prints and the I an away or sold at a. Buyback. Another gun can be stolen… Read more »

Don’t go to Colorado and problem solved…LET’S GO BRANDON!

I wish that solve the problem. But once this crap passes in Colorado, it moves on to other states and the infection will soon arrive in YOUR state. Colorado is not the first state with anti-“ghost“ gun laws they already exist in at least CA and I think NY.

It has to be stopped, via one of the “four boxes” — preferably the ballot box. VOTE, and vote carefully, this November.

Blatantly unconstitutional, and no US citizen should comply. We always have had the right to build our own firearms, since before We the People created the US gov and the Colorado gov, so they can take this “law” and shove it where the sun don’t shine. The traitors who proposed this atrocity are violating civil rights and need to go to prison.

title 18 has never been enforced against those it was intended for there is no police force to protect constitution , it is the job of the military but they will not do it why do you think they are destroying military at some point we will be forced to protect someone or a group and we will need to disarm and take all their gear and jail the government people to prevent reprisal (government tracked down one by one as many of the people that stopped bureau of land management as they could) this is what is coming
