Nice!

Can this upper receiver fire 55 grain ammo without failure or complications?

Core

I would guess yes due to gas piston. However, you may not get the greatest expansion and stabilization.

Sure, depending on what your definition of “complications” is…

A buddy of mine ordered one of these from optic planet. Was back ordered for 11 months. He was asked to give up many times. When he found them in stock at brand x, he called optic planet to inform them and ask why they still did not have any. When it did finally arrive, the box had a heavy layer of dust on it. I saw it myself, it looked like it had been in a very dusty place for a very long time. He is very happy with the upper.

Arm up and carry on

You could blind pin and weld.
It’s weird that they keep pushing this deal when it’s estimated to be in stock 5-8 months from now. Might be in stock after it’s illegal period

OV,

Pistols or rifles?
They are OK , my daughter uses a db-9 as her back-up. It prefers win as I remember. Too small for my hands, but she shoots nice groups at combat ranges with it.
The DB-15 is an acceptable low end rifle.
What else can I tell you?

OV,

$600 USED? Wow, I think mine was $399 new.
I doubt that they were made by Colt, but stranger things have happened. I don’t have one of each to break down and compare. If one showed up again, I’d grab it. They aren’t fancy, but I don’t believe in safe queens so that isn’t an issue.

Nolo problemo

I ran 1000 rounds through a gas mitigated AR 15 once just to see how soon it would fail from not cleaning it. Well at 1000 rounds I figured that was enough and I cleaned it anyway. This redesign of a proven design makes no sense to me, PLUS it is ugly with its outdated picatinny quad rail on it. SIG thinks their poop don’t stink. $569 is STILL overpriced. That’s my 2 cents worth.
