WHEN “ALL AMMO IN 9MM ” REACH UNDER 30 CENTS PER ROUND – ONLY THEN WILL I “THINK ABOUT PURCHASING ” ! They are STILL – PRICE GOUGING ! Taking advantage of all gun owners !

TexDad

It appears 9mm has leveled at 40c in recent months, twice what it was pre-pandemic and pre-Biden. And still very little in the way of primers with prices around 4-5 times what they were.

I seriously doubt the demand/supply situation hasn’t improved since this summer. Are we to believe these prices are the new norm? We will see waning support from gun enthusiasts in coming years if that’s so.

Wild Bill

Biden has caused massive inflation, which means that the purchasing power of the dollar is diminished. Manufacturers and vendors must have more dollars to make up the shortage.
A 1913 dollar only bought three cents worth of goods at the end of the Trump Administration. Who knows how little it buys, now.
MC, brother.

It’s been less than two years. Inflation hasn’t halved the value of the dollar.

Wild Bill

In 1971 Nixon took America off the gold standard, meaning that the US dollar was no longer backed by gold. It is just paper. In 1972, the Arabs demanded more dollars for their oil to make up for the diminished value. There were fights in the street over buying gasoline at the station, remember? Diminished value dollars chasing after fewer goods is the very equation of inflation. Under Biden, America has become a place of shortages and free dollars. Thus the equasion, more dollars chase fewer goods, has sped up. The October estimate was 6.2 percent in that month. Under… Read more »

TexDad

I think we all understand the what & why of inflation. That doesn’t account for this.

Wild Bill

What is your theory?

TexDad

There’s no theory. Inflation is happening too quickly at the moment, but it simply hasn’t halved the value of the dollar in 21 months. Not even close. Ammunition shot up in price due to insatiable demand, and we’ve seen it slowly and steadily decrease in price as the demand waned, which is something that is still ongoing. At most, inflation dampens that effect a little. I’m simply stating that those prices seem to have stagnated since about July-August time frame, and I doubt it is because of sustained demand.

General inflation has had little effect. Last year the popular theory was the price of lead was causing the increase in the price of ammo. A few people would make comments about all sorts of things and conclude it was lead. They would do everything but look at the commodity price of lead. The price of lead last May was the lowest price it had been in five years, but that didn’t deter people from claiming it was lead causing the increase in the retail price of ammo. Even at the end of last year, lead was lower than it… Read more »

Wild Bill

“General inflation has had little effect.” What!? Isn’t general inflation a way of saying inflation on goods generally? What is your meaning.
And do feel free to leave off the minor insults. They are just a waste of time and typing. MC.

JSNMGC

Wild Bill, you continue to attempt to “make observations” about my comments and continue to “not see” Will’s. I was replaying Will’s insult and no, I will not stop making comments about him. You also accuse me of being hateful when I point out the reality of state, county, city/town law enforcement. However, when someone repeatedly calls for the home addresses of federal agents and talks about their family, you say you admire their enthusiasm. You don’t object to the lack of civility in discussion and you don’t object to people making distasteful comments about law enforcement. You just don’t… Read more »

Wild Bill

What is your inflation theory? MC

JSNMGC

It’s not inflation.

Wild Bill

So, your inflation analysis is limited to ammunition and no other commodity because meat is up 14%, bacon 20%, and veggies 04%. Those are not small.

JSNMGC

The only “inflation analysis” I’ve done is that which is necessary to conclude the major reason for the increase in retail ammo prices since early 2020 is not inflation.

JSNMGC

TEX(“Will”) – 12/9/21:

“LMFAO!!!”

Reply to TEX (“Will”):

Careful, TEX, Wild Bill may tell you to feel free to leave off the minor insults.

Feel free to get in on this discussion yourself. Please, join in with your thoughts.

TexDad

20 cents * bacon = 24 cents. Not 40.

Wild Bill

You should look into the Southern tradition of communicating courtesly. Southern people have many diplomatic responses that they use in place of what they really mean.
So bless your little heart, I notice that when I quibble with you others refrain from commenting. For my part, I don’t wish to monopolize the site, so you keep your finger on the pulse and MC, brother.

JSNMGC

You mumble over your shoulder as you do the walk.

Well-mannered people all over the country realize “Merry Christmas” is a sincere expression of good tidings and an abbreviation of it shouldn’t be used as a passive-aggressive jab, like you and your sycophant have been doing.

You stepped into something acting like you understand it and then backed out once you realized something was up.

You have been doing all the things I outlined earlier and your hypocrisy is just too much.

Response on hold.

Wild Bill

That is ok. What ever you pen is fine. MC.

JSNMGC

I covered that very comment.

Wild Bill

Demand + supply = price (price up is inflation, price down is deflation).
Applied: Insatiable demand, demand waned, sustained demand.
Decrease in price, inflation dampens the effect, prices seem to have stagnated.
Your equation is missing a supply element, and therefore I can not solve it. Sorry

TexDad

Insatiable: not able to be met by the supply.

Your argument seems to be that inflation of the dollar is to blame for a doubling of price. That’s nonsense.

TexDad

What an excellent presentation of logic and fact. Thank you, Will.

Russn8r

LOL

JSNMGC

Hang on, it’s going to get funnier.

Russn8r

Sorry, work to do. I don’t run a big ranch in my head like WB. Are you coming around to my suspicion that sock pup WB = sock pups W/T? The smug-cop / thug-cop tag-team M.O. is transparent. They share other traits, like vacuous good-will suck-up posts. “Wow, what a great post, and so insightful.” TD disagrees with a goofy WB theory, sockpup W/T jumps in with ~”WB’s a genius who knows everything. If a pissant like you STFU you might learn sumpm.”

JSNMGC

I’m following the conventions of civil discourse and waiting for Wild Bill’s reply. The humor will be in what he writes (or doesn’t), not in what I write. I thought it was extremely unlikely that someone with an above average IQ (I believe Wild Bill’s IQ is above 100) could pretend to be as incapable as someone like Will/TEX etc. By the way, did you notice that FORD Will jumped immediately into Will’s defense of having multiple accounts and also that he hadn’t been heard from for quite some time before or since? Also, FORD Will’s avatar is “proud to… Read more »

Russn8r

WB is a hater. Passive-aggressive hatred expressed through leftist M.O.s of double standards, projection, snark and sock pups is far worse than honest hate.

That said, I don’t think it requires >100 IQ. Probably easier for a 98 IQ to imitate an 80 IQ. Another clue, the theory that general inflation from the future traveled back in time and jacked up ammo prices to make it look like a panic when it was really general inflation that didn’t show up elsewhere and still hasn’t been observed at anything like the ammo price increases.

JSNMGC

Probably not, but occasionally Wild Bill writes something that is interesting. Will/TEX/etc. is barely a sentient being. Most people would have a hard time lowering themselves to that point as part of a multiple account scam.

I’ve got to run soon as well.

Regarding marketplace dynamics and the ammo industry, it looks like Wild Bill is going to do that walk . . .

Russn8r

And now… ¡Adios Amigos! Do your worst, LOL.

Wild Bill

All that was born in your head. An hour ago you said that you had to go to work. Forty-eight minutes ago you are still typing. Are you sure that you work? What work do you claim to do?

Wild Bill

Many economists that I have read go back to 1913 as a base line dollar purchasing power value. I hope that clears up the confusion.

Wild Bill

“Walmart is synonymous with America.
The U.S.’s largest retailer has plans to follow the over 46 million Americans (and counting) who’ve taken steps towards resetting the way they save and spend their money moving forward.
In 200 stores across the country, Walmart has cracked the door open for customers to convert their dollars, which have lost a stunning 97% of their spending power since 1900…into a decentralized currency…” .

Wild Bill

So you are an psychiatrist, now, too or did you just pick up these terms from your own therapy sessions?

JSNMGC

For posterity, “TEX” wrote this as a reply to TexDad:

TexDad,WB don’t talk nonsense about nothing. The man knows what he talking about. If you pay attention to him you might learn something. MC

No, quite the opposite. my writing must not have been clear. My apologies. MC

“H.R. 5512 is a sad commentary on how far we have fallen, not just since the days of the Founders, but only in the last 75 to 100 years. We could not maintain the gold standard nor the silver standard. We could not maintain the copper standard, and now we cannot even maintain the zinc standard.” — Rep. Ron Paul

https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/647588/a-statement-by-ron-paul-quot-even-quot-zinc-standard-quot-cant-be-maintained-quot

Wild Bill

That is a good quote, Thanks for sharing. And MC!

Russn8r

Rand Paul’s right about this, but he also claims the covid vaccines are safe & effective, a lie that is quite a bit more evil than fiat currency.

Will

WB,I sure hope eventually the US goes back to the gold standard. Then the dollar might be worth close to a dollar again. The past 20 years I have invested heavily in gold and silver bullion and still do. Maybe President Trump will do that during his second term.

Wild Bill

Yep, me too! As long as I can trade paper for something substantial, I’m doing it.

Wild Bill

I’ll check it out. Thanks for sharing. MC!

Wild Bill

I am proud to say that Texas has already made gold and silver legal tender. I’m not at all sure how to get the local kid at the gas station to give me correct change based upon today’s gold market. Ha! MC, brother.

Arizona

Are you sure it was down to 3 cents? I thought i remembered reading it was 19 cents during the obama reign of errors. Hard to believe it went down so fast since then.

Arizona

I am able to find 9mm for 30c a piece, but I bought it for 16c including shipping before the wuflu. I refuse to be fleeced, and have enough for a while yet.
