U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Access to hunting land and to shooting ranges are key indicators affecting the future of hunting and sport shooting. A new study, announced by the National Shooting Sports Foundation®, reports on findings regarding the current availability of public and private areas accessible for hunting and sport shooting collected from a nationwide survey that included a trend analysis to see how perceptions have changed over the last decade.
With support from a grant awarded by the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies’ (AFWA) Multistate Conservation Grant program, the report titled “Assessing the Quality and Availability of Hunting and Shooting Access in the United States,” produced by Responsive Management, provides major findings from the surveys reporting on activity locations, factors considered for location selection and factors that affect hunter/shooter enjoyment, access constraints and ratings, information sources for locations and user awareness of programs and resources.
Beyond the survey information reported is a robust recommendations section – 99 of them in all. A recurring message in many of the recommendations is the importance of current information supported by using effective communication, marketing, branding, and outreach strategies. These efforts have a clear impact on awareness of, participation in, and satisfaction with access programs/resources, and will increase the success of implemented programs.
Attached to the Assessing the Quality and Availability of Hunting and Shooting Access in the United States report is a Hunting and Shooting Access Inventory Report that includes a national summary total and a one-page report per state. A detailed Excel file reporting all 50 states is also available for download.

Hunting is a tradition and most hunters have had family, friends or an area that had a lot of hunters in the area to get guidance from. Most places don’t have that any more. Or very little. Another 10-20 years it could be all but extinct. Hunting is frowned upon if not attacked in many states. We use to have teachers talk about huntin with students at lunch or after school. Now, they’re more than likely attack you for being a hunter. Even a fisherman.
Not allowed? There is no allow to it. It is our Right to own, carry, buy, trade, give, sell, collect and practice with guns and any other weapon that we can use to make a meaningful defense.

NSSF needs to study the actual hunting laws in each state. Florida has hunting but I have yet to figure out how to actually hunt! Get a license (of course) but then try to figure out where, when, and additional permits to actually hunt. You better have a law degree to try to read them.
in florida it is more because most hunting is on privet land , we hunt hogs on diamond crystals land, have permission from owners ,and they are more than happy because damage they do, many other farmers are the same, a few look for clubs to pay them but the real farmers want the pigs gone
