LTC Allen West ~ Please Challenge Wayne LaPierre for NRA EVP/CEO Position

Lt. Col. Allen West Salute
Lt. Col. Allen West Salute

Houston, TX. – -(Ammoland.com)- A group of current, and former NRA Directors as well as a number of concerned life members led by current Board member Judge Phillip Journey, former Board members Rocky Marshall and Bill Dailey, and board candidate Frank Tait, are:

Calling on former NRA Board member, Lieutenant Colonel (US Army, Ret) Allen West to stand for election as Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association at the NRA Board meeting on Monday, May 30, 2022.

This would be the second time in Wayne LaPierre’s 31-year tenure as EVP that he was challenged.

Former NRA Board member Rocky Marshall said, “We need a new leader who will work to resolve the outstanding litigation in New York and the District of Columbia. Only then will the NRA be able to effectively serve all members, especially in the crucial upcoming elections, and get the NRA back to serving our members and reaching out to the 7.5 million new gun owners since 2019. We think Allen West is that leader.”

Former NRA Board Member Bill Dailey said, “The verified pleadings in the New York Attorney Generals litigation and evidence thus far questioning the propriety of Wayne Lapierre’s leadership requires the Board of Directors to exercise their fiduciary duty to select a replacement who is able provide the leadership to effectively and properly represent NRA members and protect the Second Amendment in the future.”

Current NRA Board member, Hon. Phillip Journey stated: “After watching the NRA’s Bankruptcy hearings, reviewing the evidence presented and New York law, I have concluded that the likelihood of the NYAG winning her lawsuit against Wayne La Pierre and the other defendants is very high. If she wins, they will be prohibited from serving in any NY non-profit. Wayne will be removed from office by court order. As an NRA member and a member of its Board of Directors I have a duty to plan for that contingency.”

“I know Col. Allen West will make a great Executive Vice President of the NRA. Col. West is a nationally recognized advocate for the Second Amendment. He has extensive political experience and a record of speaking out on the NRA Board of Directors for the reform and the restoration of the National Rifle Association.”

When I talk with my friends and shooting partners there is one universal attitude toward NRA: not one dime until LaPierre is gone. I belong to a pretty influential collectors group out here and they are all life members but will not send one dime to NRA until there is a clean up. I hope some board members listen. Folks have had it. Dedicated, long time life members have had their fill.

Bubba

Ditto….

AP

LaPierre is a stain on the organization. I’ve been called several times to kick in again, but I always tell the caller I will not support the NRA until Wayne is history.

Captn John

As a manager I quickly learned I didn’t need to know every position in the company. To get things done hire and promote the best and eliminate company politics. West will determine what’s best for the NRA and not individuals or venders. He will LEAD, not take.

Wild Bill

I concure.

Rick

It’s ironic that an attack on the NRA should be the tool to save the NRA from it’s Exec VP. We need new leadership, bring back the people Wayne fired and change the by laws to force new leadership every 10 years

DIYinSTL

West would do better as an interim executive V.P. And there should be a term limit on the position.

JSNMGC

He would make a good paid spokesperson.

The lawyers who are trying to “save the NRA” should have spent money some time ago to hire an executive search firm to identify a compelling alternative to Wayne.

The business issues facing the NRA are complex. There are people who understand those issues.

DIYinSTL

i.e. he would make a good President which is a figurehead position for the purpose of PR. That’s why Heston did such a good job in the position. I think West is the preferred candidate for exec VP because he has name recognition, the perception of integrity, believed to be a strong 2A proponent and for these reasons has a slim chance to replace Wayne. (Would NPR crow about the NRA hiring it’s first black CEO?) Few people with understanding of what it takes to run a large, complex organization think West is suited for the job long term.

Russn8r

NRA’s imploding from corruption & political betrayal of its mission, which never was & shouldn’t be single-issue. So what’s critical now is an honorable well-spoken no-compromise conservative to end undisclosed insider sweetheart contracts, fire “access” lobbyists who sell us out with crap deals, poison pill “carry” laws with “gun free” zones, “fix” laws like O-care enough to pass by one vote, give phony A grades, endorsements, Orange Alert cards & $ to gun grabbers & squishes. ETC. West can be all that. Being black as night & a war hero are big bonuses. NRA’s biz isn’t complex. It ain’t GE.

Wild Bill

I don’t think that LTC West’s integrity would allow him to be a mouthpiece or front man for the current corrupt NRA (read LaPiere). I do think that LTC West would enjoy the “roll up your sleeves” work of uncorrupting the NRA.

Russn8r

It’s not all lawyers trying to save the NRA. Where did you get that?

The business issues are NOT that complex.

Russn8r

Downvoters love NRA corruption.

Wild Bill

Reading minds again.

Russn8r

Yours is like reading a child’s mind, with your transparent hatred and relentless stalking.

Wild Bill

What is the market going to do today, mindreader?

Russn8r

Fluctuate, POP.

Wild Bill

Flatuate … Fop.

Russn8r

How vile! Go away, Child. Your stalking is boring & stupid.

Wild Bill

You better mind your manners. JSN is one of your only allies.

Russn8r

I’m ok with interim, but if he does well it should permanent. Term limits are deceptively attractive. See California. Term limits since 1990, and they made it worse by far for reasons that should be obvious. Flushed the babies with the bath water, refilled the tub with even murkier, more corrupt water, rapidly accelerated the reset, reconquista & transformation into Calizuela. And term limits make even less sense for a “complex” business than they do for political seats.

Jeff Knox

Folks, we absolutely need a candidate to run against Wayne, and it has to be someone with proven integrity, political experience, a solid understanding of our issues — inside and outside the NRA — and the possibility of actually winning. LTC West fits the bill. He might not be the “perfect” candidate, but no one is. First and foremost, we need LaPierre out. From there, we can begin the process of reorganizing the NRA into the organization it should be. Rejecting West because there might be someone else that might be a better choice, is just surrendering in advance of… Read more »

JSNMGC

Would you take a great corporate executive with proven business experience and put him in charge of a battalion that is headed to war? Afterall, all that military stuff could be delegated to people with military experience that report to him. Jeff, how many times do we go down this road with NRA execs and BOD members? North has a silver star – he must be good! Ted Nugent was great on the guitar and he said awesome, funny, outrageous things about firearm rights – let’s get him on the Board! Charlton Heston played John the Baptist for cripes sake… Read more »

Wild Bill

Perhaps we should look more deeply into LTC West’s qualifications. American military officers, on average, have three times as many university degrees as the captains of American industry.

JSNMGC

I’ve read his own biography and I’ve read other descriptions of his experience. He does not have the experience to be the EVP of a large, complex, floundering business like the NRA.

Wild Bill

What is the title of his biography?

JSNMGC
Wild Bill

Based on his resume, LTC West is exactly what is needed to lead the NRA. And his wife is a financial advisor.

WeWereWarned

Content of character, right? If he was a socialist cop and did what he did overseas as a socialist soldier, then he is exactly who the 2nd Amendment is protection from. I would hope he now realizes that the 2nd Amendment is to be used to stop a morally inferior government employee, like his own actions proved him to be, from doing what he did under color of law as a government employee. He could not mentally handle a prisoner, who would not sell out his brothers in arms to a foreign invading military. He lost control of his emotions… Read more »

Russn8r

That’s a bit stretched, considering he popped off a round next to his head, as opposed to sawing it off.

Wild Bill

How do you conclude that LTC West is a socialist? Just because he roughed up some opforce, who probably needed it? You have never been in theatre, have you.

ahhiyawa

Your full of woke flap-doodle.

West’s non-lethal actions forced the jihadi to give vital and real time information on an ambush, thwarting it and saving American lives.

We did far worse in Vietnam forcing Victor Charlie’s and NVA prisoners to give real time info on the battlefield.

West got railroaded when he should have received commendation and medals.

JSNMGC

He lost in the Republican primary:
Abbott – 67.2%
West – 12.1%
Huffines – 11.5%

https://ballotpedia.org/Texas_gubernatorial_election,_2022_(March_1_Republican_primary)

JSNMGC

You’re welcome.

Russn8r

That West lost is irrelevant. The primary was overcrowded with 3 real conservatives who Abbott easily outspent by orders of magnitude. There’s no way the establishment would let West, Huffines or Prather win, and elderly Texans are afraid of anything new.

ahhiyawa

Trump’s endorsement of Abbott back in June sealed the deal.

Orion

why do i get the distinct impression the FPC would love to see the NRA become impotent?

Stag

Because the FPC doesn’t like treachery.

Russn8r

Your hero Lucky Pierre (the La is optional) already made NRA impotent.

Dogma Factor

Yes indeed WLP needs to go in the worst way. I hope the consortium of former NRA Directors and concerned life members have a winning formula. If successful I hope the first order of business will be a forensic audit of everything.

TGP389

I agree. This could be the saving of the NRA.

john

Elected politicians have proven time and time again that working together with the military and corporate contractors has been some of their biggest failures in spending & strategies. Yes this country has made some awesome weapons and the best military on the planet no issue there. This man has a good military record a awesome service history how does that qualify him for dealing in the corporate & political environment. Washington eats it own as we have seen nothing is off the table when it comes to making up shit about their adversaries.Past military personal quickly become targets of propaganda… Read more »

Jim

I will gladly support LtC West without reservation! It is clearly time for a change and I fully endorse him for the job.
Jim – NRA Life Benefactor Member

JPM

Only the 2nd challenge to his “leadership” (thievery would be a more appropriate term) in 31 years? As an organization, what does this tell you about the NRA? The NRA keeping LaPierre in charge for 31 years and continuing to let him pillage the coffers is like hiring and maintaining Dr. Jack Kevorkian as administrator over a elderly care facility.

T.Knight

I am glad this discussion is happening. The Association belongs to its members and without their engagement …… well, it doesn’t work as well. I made my concerns known on August 1st 2019 and they have not changed. The Association’s importance can not be overstated. So let’s see where all these conversations go and what happens or doesn’t at the members meeting.

Hazcat

West has nor impressed me in his political career. Ran from the fight in FL when he got gerrymandered, in TX said he would fix the state R party, left that position before a year to run for office and failed.

Not a very good record. Looks more like grifting to me.

crazy joe

West would be a plus compared to the idiot we have there now. I am with all that refuse to donate any thing. and I. am a life member too

Russn8r

I remembered NRA in mine by excluding them & putting GOA in instead.

Wild Bill

Free shipping at Midway just now. And I just said no to the roundup, also!

john

A change in management would be welcome I am just not that hasty to let a retired military colonel take the lead .We can thank him for the service to our country and I do. The next leader of the NRA if that happens needs to be willing to listen to the members who and why the have lost faith in this organisation so it does not happen again.

DDS

Interesting comment in light of the fact that the NRA was founded by retired Union Army officers anxious about the lack of marksmanship skills displayed by their troops in the then recently concluded War of Northern Aggression.

john

The world has changed that was a long time ago people had ad mindset to did those elected in washington

swmft

city folk cant shoot , even today the gangs and city cops cant hit the broadside of a barn 40+ rounds fired one hits sad

Russn8r

Go West!

Russn8r

Downvoters want a Lucky (La)Pierre manwich.

JSNMGC

No thanks.

Russn8r

Why not?

JSNMGC

In that long, detailed article, what qualifies him to be the EVP of the NRA?

Russn8r

Qualifies? Give me a break. What “qualifies” Lucky (La)Pierre?

Albert Einstein wasn’t “qualified” to teach high school physics.

Come on, man, you’ve got 8,000 pet peeves against the word RINO but you can’t offer a single reason to oppose an imperfect but honorable replacement for LaPew?

JSNMGC

Lots of people would be better than Wayne.

Allen doesn’t have the background or knowledge required for the job.

Russn8r

Col West is who we have. “Lots of people” are who we don’t have. You still give no concrete reasons.

I disagree he doesn’t have what’s required. The EVP doesn’t do the books etc himself. He has advisors, treasurer etc.

What’s really needed now is someone who’s used to command, is honorable, and isn’t a RINO cuck.

It’s worth a try. They’re not going to give it to him anyway.

The NRA is much more like a large, complex, publicly traded corporation than it is like the Army. I’d rather see someone in the position who has been in a leadership position in a corporation and who has experience leading some of the same functions that are in the NRA and who has a deep understanding of corporate governance. We had an NRA President with lots of major awards and he did a bad job: Silver Star Bronze Star with Combat V Device Purple Heart with gold star Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with combat V device and two… Read more »

Several folks promoting him are industry leaders with an understanding of corporate governance. He’ll be plenty good enough in that regard. And it’s EVP, not President.

Main thing isn’t getting some corporate for-profit dude up there. It’s getting one of us. West’s a good spokesman, and not a compromising effeminate VichyCon cuck lobbyist like Lucky Pierre (the La is optional).

JSNMGC

I know it’s EVP – see my first reply to you. I only mentioned that we had a senior position in the NRA filled by a veteran. I’m sure West is a fine person. I’d rather have someone like the person I described lead the NRA. Lots of people are more pro firearm rights than Wayne. I think it would be best to get one who is familiar working in a non-dysfunctional business environment – that is, someone who can work with a good BOD so we never have the problems we have had. I don’t think we will get… Read more »

Russn8r

We’re not going to get that. West is what the only active viable oppo is promoting, and he’s plenty good enough. No one’s promoting him simply because he’s a veteran.

JSNMGC

You asked why I wasn’t in favor and I answered you. We disagree.

Wild Bill

Absent having served in the U.S. Army and having worked in the NRA, you are just guessing.

JSNMGC

No.

I wouldn’t transfer a publicly traded corporation executive to lead a large, complex military organization.

I wouldn’t transfer a senior military officer to lead a large, complex business entity.

Like I wrote above, I’m sure West is a fine person, he just wouldn’t be my choice for the EVP of the NRA.

Russn8r

“Absent having served in the Army & worked in the NRA, you’re just guessing”

So are you! Nice legend though, POP!

Wild Bill

It is just logic. JS knows nothing of the military and has never been in the NRA structure. Thus he is comparing an unknown to an unknown. The result can only be guessing.

JSNMGC

I know it would not be a good idea to drop an accomplished business executive in to lead a battalion headed off to war. What would majors and captains (who are trained and experienced in military matters) think of a business executive who was dropped in to lead them? What would people who have been educated in their various business fields and who have many years of experience in those fields think if a person was dropped in to lead them and he had virtually no relevant experience? Also, if some of those functional leaders at the NRA need to be… Read more »

Wild Bill

The command staff would support him because they are disciplined and every swinging Richard knows that their lives are intertwined in the biggest bet that anyone can ever make. The S4 would continue to order supplies as though the businessman commander had ordered it. The S2 would sandbox game decisions so that the businessman commander could see the probable results in advance. The SGM would say, ” Sir, I’m sure that it is just an oversight, but … ”
I can not speak to what business persons would do.

JSNMGC

Do you think it would be a good idea to drop an accomplished businessperson in to lead a battalion headed off to war?

Or do you think it would be a better idea to find someone trained and experienced in military matters to lead the organization?

Wild Bill

Like you have read his resume.

Russn8r

I’d trust Col West. He’s not a sad little snippy B Chatroom Commando stalker with an imaginary legend who covers for Oathbreakers.

Wild Bill

Yes, I trust LTC West, too. It is JSN that does not understand the experience, loyalty to We the People, and integrity of LTC West.

JSNMGC

Why don’t you discuss things without using these tactics? I understand West’s experience, loyalty, and integrity. However, his experience is just not what is needed at the NRA.

Of all the money that was collected to “save the NRA,” maybe a little less should have been spent on lawyers and a little should have been spent on an executive search firm to find a business executive.

Wild Bill

That is your opinion. I think that LTC West is exactly what is needed at the NRA.

JSNMGC

Yes, that is my opinion.

ahhiyawa

Its “executive searches” over 30 years ago that got the NRA into the mess it is in today.

LTC Allen West is exactly the kind of man we need to lead the NRA.

JSNMGC

I don’t agree with you.

Wild Bill

I DO agree with you! And I’d like to hear more about these executive searches, please.

Wild Bill

LTC not Col. Incorrect rank. Incorrect abréviation.

Russn8r

Good grief. You know very well folks address LTCs as Col all the time.

Newsflash, Generalíssimo: This is a comment section of an op-ed blog, not a journal or an official letter.

¿And what’s with the anal accent on abréviation?

¿You just have to be a snippy little B, don’t you? Can’t help yourself.

The various Army, Marine and Air Force flag officers are often referred to simply as General. Ditto for the Navy’s various levels of Admirals. NCOs above the rank of Corporal get shortened down to Sargent. Why would you get hung up on LTC’;s and “full birds” both being called Colonel?

Wild Bill

Hung up?! No, what you mention is just sloppy Hollywood movie talk, inappropriate, and disrespectful. Among professional military men rank is everything. Rank tells you the man’s place in an organization and latitude of authority. Rank is one’s first name. LT Jones might be Billy Jones, but no one gives a shit about his first name because it conveys nothing. Rank is achievement. It is common to know a person for years and not know their first name. For ejemplo: “I knew MAJ Grey when he was just PFC Grey. He is a talented soldier!” GOs want to hear “Major… Read more »

growing up in it was interesting, base commanders kids cant get away with anything , my sister was escorted on dates and who she could date was controlled by the rank of the parent almost like royalty marry a commoner loose your place

Wild Bill

Yes, the Army does not only get the man, but the entire family, also. Even the ladies support groups were chaired according to their husband’s rank.

swmft

I remember a posting where we were in a house with staff, cooks maids 24 hours ,had a driver /guardian events to attend almost every week . found a box cleaning out my mothers house that was full of stuff from that time and found some directly addressed to my mother BY HER navy RANK took me a few minutes to sink in both invited separately to same event ,moms invitation included the family dads was just to him
dad hated the politics of it

Wild Bill

Wow, I am impressed! was your father an admiral? My condolences regarding your late mother.

Russn8r

Dear Generalíssimo Prissimundo:

Depends on context. See https://www.formsofaddress.info/lt_colonel/

Envelope? LTC, Lt Col, LtCol are correct “abréviations”.

Letter greeting? “Dear Colonel”

Conversation with or about? Colonel Smith”

This is conversation. It’s no “Hollywood” insult to refer to Colonel West. Cut the pompous, frustrated, chatroom commando nitpicky BS. No one buys it.

100s of articles & countless comments by military & ex military confirm what DDS wrote. But YOU are the ultimate authoritáh!

You act like a woman who pretends offense at being addressed as Ma’am. Prissy, emotional, effeminate, calculating M.O.

Wild Bill

Did you not notice that each abbreviation is service specific? You act like a uneducated man who pretends to to be educated. Prissy, emotional, effeminate, and deprecating.

Russn8r

More deflection and projection by the troll of Ammoland.

QED. LOL.

Wild Bill

You have to demonstrate some logic chain or algebraic equation before using Quod est demonstratum.

Russn8r

Quod est demonstratum again? LOL.

QED!

Was Ezequiel Hernandez in one of your drug warrior “theaters”, Generalíssimo? Is that why you refuse to honor him?

Wild Bill

Your reading comprehension problems reveal themselves again. Have you ever even generated military correspondence?

Russn8r

Have you ever honored the names of any of your civilian victims, Generalíssimo?

Russn8r

Crickets Chirping…

Of course not. Too busy trashing anyone who does honor them.

Wild Bill

Not even crickets want to converse with an illiterate slanderer.

Russn8r

There you go again. By protecting the killers & policies that enable them, by troll-attacking those who raise the issue, you make their vics yours, whether or not you pulled the trigger.

Downvoters hate civilians & love jack-booted thugs.

Daniel Shaver. Say his name, Generalíssimo.

Knute Knute

Have you ever succeeded in getting any of that posse of blue trolls that follow you around to ever say the name of even one person they’ve killed? Ever? Not even once?
What do you put that down to? Do you think they have a selective finger disability… or is it the common desire of the guilty to sweep their crimes under the rug?
I’m pretty sure of my answer. Anybody else? 🙂

Knute Knute

Daniel Shaver. Murdered by those who took an oath to protect him. Betrayal. Of the highest possible order.
Gee, that was pretty easy to type. I wonder why so many others seem unable to. Disability? Or Desire?
It seems rather obvious to me… 🙂

Russn8r

Yep. Bill’s favorite sock puppet thug Well-TEX-Jesse-Bruce-Ford et ilk said “Daniel Shaver” then claimed his killer didn’t do anything wrong (!!!) since judge & jury let him off & Mesa rehired him!

“I said you sound like.” Disingenuous distinction without a difference.

“I’ll be ignoring anything you write.” Gee, I’m crushed. Somehow I’ll have to live with it.

You know I’ve been relentlessly stalked & smeared, yet you butted in with Rodney King moral equivalence as if I should spread the other cheek & “take it”. You should’ve stayed out of it. Now you say you will, but you’re attacking on the way out.
