Having used straight batons and their side handle PR24 in real life situations.

The PR24 is a much more effective impact weapon.

When I started with L.A. in 1971, we used straight wooden batons, then went to plastic side-handle batons, then metal. The plastic would soften and turned limp (use your imagination). All in all, I preferred the straight baton, probably from years of use.

I like striking weapons for “less than lethal” contact, but I prefer a friction baton…

I wish more states would do like Florida, and allow carry of less lethal weapons and even big knives or brass knuckles to be carried under your CWP, or permitless carry if applicable. In SC, they trust me with a firearm that could kill or injure someone several blocks away, but I could be arrested for carrying an expandable baton, knife, or brass knuckles, that have to be used at contact distance.

FL-GA

Yeah, it’s a Concealed WEAPON Permit, but when traveling, most other states only recognize it as a Concealed FIREARM Permit.

and for large spray pepper or mace you have to have it

These are fine, I have two they’re nice for slow stick fighting practice, but saying the regular price is $65 just to claim they’re 68% off is ridiculous. $65 for a piece of plastic?

StreetSweeper

These are great, I have two, but I must point out they DO NOT have a hole in them to attach a rope or thong; that must be drilled by you. Still, they’re worth it, no one is going to want to be beaten with one of these, it would make for a very bad day.
