NRA Endorses Derek Schmidt in Kansas Primary

The NRA has officially endorsed Derek Schmidt for Governor of Kansas. IMG NRA

U.S.A. -( The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to announce its endorsement of Derek Schmidt for governor in the 2022 Kansas primary election.

“Derek Schmidt is a staunch supporter of our Second Amendment freedoms and he will continue to fight to protect our fundamental right to self-defense,” said Jason Ouimet, chairman, NRA-PVF. “Kansans can trust Derek Schmidt to protect their constitutional right to keep and bear arms.”

As attorney general, Schmidt signed “friend of the court” briefs on several landmark cases, including NYSRPA v. Bruen, in which the Supreme Court ruled the Second Amendment protects the right of law-abiding Americans to carry a firearm outside of the home. Schmidt also supported legislation that ensured felons who carry firearms while committing crimes would be sentenced to prison, as well as legislation that protects law-abiding gun owners access to firearm accessories.

Schmidt has earned the highest attainable “A+” rating from the NRA. That rating is reserved for elected officials who have a demonstrated record of leadership in the fight to promote and defend the right to keep and bear arms.

“The NRA is proud to endorse Derek Schmidt and encourages all NRA members, gun owners, hunters and sportsmen to vote for Derek Schmidt in the upcoming Republican Primary election,” Ouimet concluded.

I don’t know anything about him, except that if NRA endorses him he must be a RINO!

Yawn. Like it matters.

Hey NRA, how many politicians have you endorsed that have turn-coated on us?
Kinda makes me wonder; Are they paying for your endorsement?
Ya/all have lost your credibility.

I wouldn’t trust anyone the NRA endorses since they never stand up for gun rights any more

Wouldn’t it be great if we actully had a right to bear arms?

So the NRA is supporting another butter/Fudd? Shocking!

Apparently, Schmidt supports secret government lists that prohibit people from flying on commercial aircraft and from purchasing firearms:
I doubt the NRA even interviewed the guy.

“If the govt considers you too dangerous to board a plane you should not be able to buy a gun.” -Schmidt

Yeah, we can trust Derek with our liberty. Not.

If someone is that dangerous, the many hundreds of thousands of armed government employees with domestic responsibilities should probably work hard, collect evidence, and arrest the person for breaking laws.

Fair trial by jury is such a bore when they can go right to sentencing: NO FLY/NO BUY FOR YOU! Don’t you trust your gvt? What are you, an insurrectionist?

Secret lists and red flag laws are shortcuts to a process that shouldn’t have a shortcut.

Like “adjudication” of gun rights, which NRA loves. There is no due process without swift recourse to jury trial.

Within the last 15 minutes I’ve done a complete 180 on Schmidt. The people of Kansas don’t need this clown in any capacity esp.Governor. No wonder he gets an A+ rating from the NRA.

A minute ago you had some upvotes. Some Glow Job sock pups didn’t like your decision. OVER THE TARGET

But, but, but the flak is so thick…..

The Glow Jobs actually think downvotes hurt our feelings – projection.

Kansans do not trust D Schmidt to oversee honest elections. Why would we trust him to be the governor? No indication D Schmidt would honor the US Constitution as gov since he abdicates his responsibility while currently serving as AG in KS. I am a reg republican voter and member of NRA – I will not vote for D Schmidt – not even for dog catcher.

Always trust the government. Especially the Military.

The link I posted was for Derek Schmidt of Kansas.

No, the spelling’s not even close. Kansas guy is Derek Schmidt, Missouri guy, Eric SCHMITT.

Unlike scumbag Derek, Eric looks OK on guns from what I see.

Filed an early amicus brief with another state on Bruen, good, but seems to exaggerate his role as “leading the brief in the case”, “SupCt agreed with Schmitt, handed him a big win” etc

To be fair, I don’t know how much the Ct relied on his brief. Maybe someone knows more.

Wild Bill

Eric Schmitt and Derek Schmidt, pretty easy to get confused.

Yep. Maybe their parents knew each other and did that for a lark.

Excellent! Kobach is awesome; I always donate to him, but I can’t donate to Schmidt since he likes secret No Fly/No Buy lists.

Schmidt was one of the 15 AG’s on that list !

The fact that Schmidt signed on Kansas to that list means volumes more to me than any A+ rating from the former NRA.

I just donated to Kobach. JSN points out that Schmidt supports secret No Fly/No Buy lists, so F**K him.

AZ Lefty

A NRA endorsement means nothing anymore since it is based on donations to Wayne’s clothing fund

it does mean something beware there is a snake in the grass

I’m sure this man completely supports the 2A and will make a fine Governor of Kansas. But the fact the former NRA gives him a A+ rating doesn’t mean anything at all to me. Remember traitor and scumbag Cornyn carries that same rating.

Green Mtn. Boy

Same here,I don’t know the man or his record.
I am however painfully aware of Negotiating Rights Aways dreadful record of selling out members and Americans 2 nd. rights time after time.

Yep! If I were a Kansas voter, the NRA endorsement would be my cue to check this guy’s past record on gun rights very closely. Sadly, an NRA A or A+ rating of and by itself can mean nothing, or that the candidate is one of our worst enemies.

Schmidt’s site is suspicious. No position page, just “I’m a conservative” – which of course every RINO claims. I never donate without a clear, direct, non-weasel platform.

Knute Knute

“I never donate without a clear, direct, non-weasel platform.” So, IOW, you don’t donate to politicians! The last candidate I ever gave money(currency, actually) to was James Trafficant, circa 1996. He was the member of the House famous for his one minute speeches ending in: “Beam me up Scotty. There’s no intelligent life here!” In over twenty years in Congress he was never allowed on ONE committee, or to ever make a single speech. So, he had to use the only resource available to him, the one minute of floor time that every Representative gets each day. And boy did… Read more »

There’s some direct non-weasel platforms.

This smells like NRA’s usual quid pro blow.

e.g. NRA stepped into a Santa Barbara sheriff race, gave gun-grabber Brown an “A” Orange Alert, helped him beat pro-gun incumbent Anderson by a hair – Anderson’s reward for throwing cold water on gun-control hysteria after a mass shooting in SB, even calling for shall issue. Brown revoked all CCWs for expendable civilians.

Turns out NRA’s pet insurance firm is in SB county. My bet, Brown’s pals are Wayne’s pals. What did NRA get in return for betraying members? What did his pals get?

Yes, I’m sure there are a few. That was just a little joke. Very little. 🙂 I’m just no longer interested in looking for them. What they did to Jim Trafficant made it clear to me that no honest person is allowed inside the beltway. By hook, by crook, or by murder, the swamp creatures will have them removed. I would have donated to our Montana Senator, Steve Daines, when he body slammed that British reporter in Bozeman for being the biggest A-hole in the world. That was impressive. But he was a shoo-in at that point, so why bother?… Read more »

What did Daines do?
