U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- Last night, the House voted 64-43 to pass Senate Bill 2226 with House Amendments 1 and 3. This amended bill contains much of the language from House Bill 5855 banning commonly-owned firearms and magazines. It will now go to the Senate for concurrence. Only a few days remain in the lame duck session, so please contact your state senator and ask them to OPPOSE SB 2226.

Senate Bill 2226, as amended, bans many semi-automatic firearms that law-abiding citizens commonly own for self-defense, competition, and recreation, bans magazines that can hold more than 12 rounds of ammunition and “combination[s] of parts” from which one can be assembled, bans .50 BMG caliber firearms and ammunition, and expands the duration of the state’s “red flag” firearm restraining order by increasing it from 6 to 12 months. Citizens may only lawfully keep their banned firearms if they register them. They may only keep banned magazines if they permanently modify them to hold no more than 12 rounds.

In addition, SB 2226 expands the duration of the state’s “red flag” firearm restraining order by increasing it from 6 to 12 months.

Again, please contact your state senator and ask them to OPPOSE SB 2226.

No person, organization, or government entity has the lawful authority to ban or regulate firearms in common use by the public, nor the standard magazines that are made to function within them. An unconstitutional act such as this cannot become law, as it is repugnant to the Constitution and Bill of Rights. “An unconstitutional law is void and is as no law. An offense created by it is not crime. A conviction under it is not merely erroneous but isillegal and void and cannot be used as a legal cause of imprisonment.”

StLPro2A

Politicians do what they do because patriots have acquiesced for so-o-o-o long without any personal accountability or repercussions to the politicians, as they enrich themselves at We The Little Peeps’ expense..

Bubba

Well said.

The problem here is not crime.
It’s the politicians.
Hang them for acts of treason when infringing on “We the people’s” rights.
Also seize any and all assets from said violators and return it to we the people.

Zhukov

And the people of Illinois will pay for their state to defend this in court and ultimately the state will lose.

Beowulf

Gang bangers excluded again. Democrats only target legal gun owners.

MB

All gun laws are unconstitutional. Until we approach “gun control” as not tolerated we will constantly have to defend our rights. The 2nd Amendment is clear and with no ambiguity. The 2nd defends all other rights, lose the 2nd, we will lose them all. We have laws against murder, just like we have immigration laws, they need to be enforced.

Arny

SHALL NOT INFRINGE. What does that statement really mean ? Apparently the definition I was given, is not right.

DaveW

The true definition was spelled out by James Madison, the author of 2A when he was called before the several state legislators to explain the meaning and intent of the 2nd, as well as in his writings in personal journals and correspondence after the ratification of 2A as part of the US Constitution. The state legislators must have liked it because they all ratified it AND included it in their own state constitutions. It was good enough that the 2A stood for the first 146 years (NFA of 1934). What remained of 2A stood until 1994 when Feinstein’s claim to… Read more »

To top it off today, I watched the 2nd half of a football game and came out to my PC and it had died.

Oldman

Ope, I was using the wife’s laptop and my new cell, which I am using now is so foreign to me it is really a pita.

Oldman

Mm, I have googling the issue and it might just be the power supply… I hope it is it, but been running Windows 7 PRO and that is a real problem, as you probably know.

I built my first computer in 2001. Had no idea what was going on when I did with W. ’98. My first cellphone was a samsung s6 which just died and I am trying to get to transfer everything on it to the new one but can no longer bring it up. The new one operates differently and it is a struggle to figure it out. I am not getting anywhere with it because we have three cars and only one is reliable and is not capable of going in ice or snow. Know what’s wrong with one, but not… Read more »

I get a kick out of that headlines – lying scum sucking pukes in media. “rapid fire bump stocks”…those stocks don’t fire anything either attached or sitting on a shelf. Now, where could I get one folks? Anyone have a link I could go to?

If this passes the senate the useless governor will sign it. At the point this bill becomes law it will be fought it the courts. There is no way forcing you to pay a tax on each firearm you own can be legal. Essentially that would mean you have to be rich to have firearms. That right there makes this bill racist. They left loves that word, cannot wait to use the weaponized word against them.

Hey NRA-ILA, I read your statement above. You Know, the one that reads About: NRA-ILA. So what happened??? Were you there when this bill took place or what? What happened? And to the non legislating Republicans that have been voted into office: Do you know what our Constitution says about such a bill. Well to those of you that voted for it, you should have to take a course on our Constitution and not be allowed to return to your office until you have passed the course with flying colors. Then if you pass a bill that goes against our… Read more »

  • Give the GOP a little break. They have had no control over the Legislature until this past week when they were sworn in. NOW let’s see what they do with it. Especially with all the evidence coming to the surface about the different agencies and people who are admitting what they did against the right in the election.

I knew this was unconstitutional when bumpstock Trump signed the order , just like that crap DeSantis pulled at his fund raiser to people who have CCWs .These clowns present themselves as second amendment supporters but in reality they steal chameleons wanting votes .

As an independent thinker and patriot, I do believe Illinois is a state like New York, being governed by lawbreakers and self centered bureaucrats that have no understanding of what kind of fools they appear to be. The US Constitution states clearly that the U S citizen has the right to own any firearm he/she can afford. That amounts to from a Red Ryder BB gun to a 55mm Howitzer. There are no limitations on the size, number or capabilities of the firearm. Illinois is passing a law that is Unconstitutional, and therefore unenforceable.
