Public Attendance Significantly Down at NRA’s 2024 Members Meeting ~ After Action Report

Opinion

2024 NRA Show.

With the exception of Donald Trump’s appearance, attendance at this year’s National Rifle Association Annual Meeting was significantly lower than in past years. In fact, some vendors are more than a little upset with the low attendance!

Many current NRA members are disturbed with the organization as it was run under the recently-deposed regime, and many others have allowed their memberships to lapse for the same reason.

Hopefully competent leadership will be restored at the upcoming Board of Director meeting, with any luck!

We need a strong NRA to fight effectively for our 2A rights against Marxists/Deep State actors, who have taken over the Democrat Political Party.

Some final observations from the convention floor:

I carried CZ’s version of the G19 (called the “P10C”) for a number of months and never had any complaints. Today, I handled their “CZ P-10 S handgun,” which is smaller and specifically designed for concealed carry.

CZ P-10 S 9mm Handgun
CZ P-10 S 9mm Handgun

CZ is now producing a version of the P10S with a low-profile Holosun RDO already mounted. Iron sights are still clearly visible and usable. Called the “TALO,” it retails for $650.00. When iron sights are not useable or visible through a mounted pistol RDO, the whole system becomes a good deal less functional for serious applications.

Del-Ton, a long-time maker of mid-priced M4 rifles, is now making and marketing a pistol. Del-Ton’s DT20 is a thin concealment pistol (9mm), the size of a SIG365. The DT20 is a thirteen-shooter and retails for $400.00

Shield Arms is making a bracket that allows one to mount an RDO on a S&W J-Frame, five-shot revolver. Amazing!

Ohio Ordnance makes an exact copy of the WWII-era, tilting-bolt BAR. It’s semi-auto only, chambered for 30-06 (7.62×63), and is available with and without a bipod.

It’s a wonderful, and I’m sure a treasured, piece of history, enjoyed and venerated by its owners. And it’s indeed a shooter, but at twenty pounds, it’s a little unwieldy and at $7.8k, a little pricy!

Ohio Ordnance also makes a lighter version, designed for more practical purposes, called the “HCAR.” Still in 30-06 caliber, the HCAR is streamlined (doesn’t look anything like a BAR), has an integral Picatinny rail, and weighs-in at ten pounds. At $6.5k, it’s still expensive, but a serious and usable rifle.

Next year’s NRA Show and Conference will be in Atlanta, GA, hopefully under happier circumstances.

The NRA is going to have to be patient and actually make a REAL effort this time to show that Actual ‘Proof of Reform’ is taking place before I go back.

As an over 40 yr life member, I too am disgusted with the NRA.
As member of the largest gun club in my state which is NRA affiliated &. speaking for most of the membership of our gun club, we are collectively disgusted with the NRA due to the Board of Directors concern their own welfare, self interests, and benefiting financially rather than preserving the Second Amendment.

I don’t think ‘exact copy’ means what you think it does…

An exact copy would not be semi-auto only.

Au contraire, Mr. Fsrnham; GOA, FPC and others have shown we do NOT need NRA’s half-assed compromising of our rights away to defeat the Leftist gun grabbers

I said the NRA attendance would be the highest ever because Trump would be there. This confirms I was right. Trump commands the largest crowds higher than any other president when he speaks. He made a statement of interest to me. He said that normally few gun owners vote and we need to change that. 1.2 million votes isn’t as many illegals that came over the border. Illegals are being caught voting in other states already and the ones that care, are clearing rolls of the illegals and discarding their votes. They are looking for them now and that’s a… Read more »

John, the “Members Meeting” mentioned in the headline is just one small, but important, event at NRAAM. What, if anything, happened at the Members Meeting would be of interest here and very important if you truly believe in the importance of the NRA. Too bad Trump is unaware of the empty husk the NRA has become.

If you want to brag on OHW, get them to demo their new machine gun for you and then tell us what you think.

It appears to me that the recently-deposed regime of the NRA hasn’t been fully deposed yet.

Sorry, John, but there were two mistakes in your article… You said “Hopefully competent leadership will be restored at the upcoming Board of Director meeting, with any luck!” But by the time the article was published, the board had already met and voted to reject any chance of reform. Then your very next paragraph said “We need a strong NRA to fight effectively for our 2A rights against Marxists/Deep State actors, who have taken over the Democrat Political Party.” Yes, the Democratic Party has certainly been taken over by Marxists and Deep State actors, but No we don’t need the… Read more »

I live in Dallas and am a life+ member, learned about the convention in Dallas via the local news, never heard about the annual convention via the NRA.

Additionally, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center is the absolute worst place to visit in Dallas. Parking is non-existent, I would have attended if the convention was almost anywhere else in the Dallas metro area, but the KBHCC is the worst place to attend.

Stag

Attendance is down because of the complete shit show the NRA has become. It’s no surprise that the only people they could get to attend are the ones gullible enough to give the Orange Infringer another chance to take more bites out of the 2A. Along with those still gullible enough to believe to NRA is actually fighting for our rights. The circle of that Venn diagram are damn near right in top of each other.
