Arlington, TX – In a tragic but justified case of self-defense, a 30-year-old man was shot and killed late Tuesday night in Arlington, Texas. The shooting occurred around 11:00 p.m. at an apartment complex on Forest Hollow Lane, where the man, identified as Cameron Deandre McGowan, was allegedly attempting to strangle the mother of his child.
According to the Arlington Police Department, officers arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a shooting in progress. They were met by a woman who stated that her child’s father had been shot by one of her relatives. The relative, whose identity has not been released, remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
During their investigation, detectives uncovered a disturbing history of domestic violence between McGowan and the woman involved. The relative who shot McGowan claimed he acted in self-defense and to protect the woman from further harm.
The police have confirmed that McGowan had a documented history of assault and family violence charges in Dallas County.
McGowan was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the case is being forwarded to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s office for further review.
This incident highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence in Texas. According to the Texas Advocacy Project, one in three Texans will experience domestic violence at some point in their lives. Unfortunately, young women and girls aged 16 to 24 are particularly vulnerable, facing nearly three times the national average rate of intimate partner violence.
The Arlington Police Department continues to investigate the case, but based on current information, it appears to be a tragic example of justified self-defense in the face of imminent danger.

This sounds like a reasonable solution to an untenable situation. It assures that the woman involved will suffer no further abuse from her now late husband. Except for going back in time and altering the facts of the original meeting and ensuing relationship, this seems like the most equitable outcome.
“Tragic” in the sense that the woman had to endure the repeated physical abuse by the dipstick who decided to earn his just reward.
He won’t do that again. A permanent solution to domestic violence.
F around and find out. Tax payer relief shot applied effectively.
The tragedy is that the dirtbag wanted to harm another human being. Once he turned down that road his resultant demise was not a tragedy but a simple matter of justice and proper housecleaning.
I wasn’t there. Didn’t see it and don’t know any of the people involved. However, the question arises…. did it have to be a kill shot? Did it have to be a shot at all? Should we consider that being arrested for brandishing or firing into the dirt would be better than living with the reality of killing someone when there was another option? Was there? Never mind man’s law and being legally ‘justified,’ how exigent were the circumstances, really, that it demanded killing someone? I don’t know. I didn’t see it. I wasn’t there. But there is a moral… Read more »
