Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool | Gear Review

The Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool is a heavy-duty multi-tool.

Years ago the multi-tool took the world by storm. Now I suppose even your grandmom has one in her kitchen drawer. But some people are over the top multi-tool lovers. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of my farming/ranching buddies even wear theirs when they shower!

When they first came out they were expensive but the price has become more reasonable now. Of course, there are some Joe Cheapos on the market that are really inexpensive, but they’re also lightweight and have a short shelf life. So, with that said, like with any of our tools, I’d recommend that you purchase a good one, which brings up today’s Product Review, Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool.

Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool

I recently received a Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool to test. As a testing ground, I thought I’d take it up to our deer/elk camp in the mountains. A multi-tool is always needed during the course of the week when you’re around elk camp, horses, trucks, tents, and trailers.

Well, let’s get started. If you’re in the market for a dainty, light-weight multi-tool then look elsewhere because the Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool is a heavy duty set. It is stoutly built. One thing that is unique (And in a good way unique) is that some of the cutting edged items are replaceable when they get dull. Smart feature.

The Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool offers 14 essential functions. I listed these 14 functions below under the company specs. I’m not going to cover them all but will cover the features that are important to me.

The pliers are stout enough to perform the tasks that I require of them. They classify the point as needle nosed which may make some of you happy. It also has wire cutting abilities which worked for the minor wire cutting jobs that I did with has replaceable cutting edge.

There are four cutting options. The knife blade is 2-inches long. I‘d like for the blade to be ½ to 1-inch longer.

The knife blade is sharp but I’d like it to be about 1-inch longer.

The saw blade is a stout blade and came from the factory super sharp but to cut the limbs that I encounter it needs to be an inch longer. It has a liner lock to lock the blade in place while in use but mine doesn’t lock every time so before using periodically I have to push the liner lock over to fully lock.

The saw blade is a sharp heavy duty blade but it is about an inch too short for my needs.

The scissors are classified as rescue shears and are the stoutest that I have seen on a multi-tool and could be used to cut some heavy-duty material with them! And, they are super sharp. I mean razor sharp. The first test I did with the scissors was to cut a sheet of paper and they were sharper than any pair of scissors in my house.

The scissors are heavy duty and are classified as Rescue Clippers for first responders to cut seat belts and other thick items.

The last cutting edge is a unique one. It is made to cut off plastic handcuffs, which appeals to law enforcement (Ha, and maybe criminals wanting to cut loose and run).

The Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool does have a flat screwdriver, but I wish that it also had a Philips screwdriver.

The MSRP on the Nextorch Pioneer Professional Multi-Tool is $99.99, and as usual, we will close with the company specs.

Interesting, first 3 handle tool I’ve seen. As with all other multitools, if it does more than one thing, then the features will be compromised – same as a hatchet with bow saw (Zippo & Ozark Trail) it can’t do both as well as two separate specific tools. We have to accept compromises, and the first thing is that blades, etc will be limited by the folding length. No such issue with a fixed blade. It’s a necessary compromise of multitool design, as I learned decades ago. I still hold the Swisstool as the best so far. As for dulling… Read more »
