Back in 1996, a case of Winchester Q3131 5.56mm 55 grain FMJ ammo could be had for $99. According to the CPI, today’s price ought to be double, around $200. But here the “sale” price is $550. (Granted the ammo is slightly different, but manufacturing cost ought to be similar.) So either the CPI is a bunch of malarkey, or it just doesn’t pertain to ammo & components. Probably both factors are in play . . . but I still have a hard time getting excited about this sale price.
Oh how I miss the days when I could buy a 50 round box of 223 – 55 grain soft points for $9.99 with the plastic box included .
