Covington VA –-(Ammoland.com)- The Maine Governor has signed a Constitutional Carry bill into law, meaning Virginians won’t need a Maine permit to carry concealed when visiting Maine!

I have looked at the wording of the new law and, contrary to the article below, it DOES appear to apply to non-residents.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As I understand it, the new law won’t become effective until sometime in October 2015, so DO NOT carry concealed in Maine for the time being. Once a firm effective date is set, I’ll let everyone know.

Virginia Citizens Defense League has supported Constitutional Carry here in Virginia for years. We plan to make it a top priority in 2016, with a bill already lined up to do so.

Here is a link to an article on the law – ignore the mention of only applying to residents: https://tiny.cc/rcoe0x

Congratulations to the gun-rights groups in Maine for a great victory!

Either all laws apply equally to all citizens or NONE. The second amendment CLEARLY states the PEOPLE have the right to keep AND bear arms. There is NO caveat for the communist inclined idiots to regulate ANY of our rights but especially our right to bear arms.

It has annoyed me to no end to see headlines and stories assuming and implying that permitless concealed carry (constitutional carry) will be available only to Maine residents. It is my view that residents of states other than Maine also will be able to carry a concealed firearm without a permit, while in Maine. Kudos to the Maine legislators who stood up for freedom (Brakey and many others) and to Lepage for signing this important piece of legislation! I grew up in Maine and have recently been renewing my ties and purchased… Read more »
