NEWTOWN, Conn – -(Ammoland.com)- A bipartisan majority in the U.S. House of Representatives today defeated an amendment that would have singled out the gun industry for class action lawsuits.

The author of the amendment, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.), erroneously argued that the underlying bill would preclude victims from filing a class action lawsuit if they sustained differing injuries as a result of the same malfunction from a defective firearm.

The legislation would have done no such thing, and the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act specifically states that manufacturers are not immune from lawsuits because of a defective product.

Simply put, this was a political exercise to further the false narrative that the firearms industry is entirely shielded from any lawsuit—an argument voiced by President Obama this week.

NSSF alerted members of the House of Representatives that because we were being singled out for adverse treatment, that we would consider this a “Key Vote” in our candidate scorecard. The amendment was handily defeated with a bipartisan majority voting in opposition.

About NSSF  The National Shooting Sports Foundation is the trade association for the firearms industry. Its mission is to promote, protect and preserve hunting and the shooting sports. Formed in 1961, NSSF has a membership of more than 6,000 manufacturers, distributors, firearms retailers, shooting ranges, sportsmen’s organizations and publishers. I know Ted Deutch, he represents a district near me in FL. He is a fraud and northern liberal carpetbagger who keeps getting elected because the area he represents is full of retired northern liberal locusts from blue states. People who escaped the high taxes, lack of services and high crime rates due to the politicians they elected, now they have moved down here and are electing the same types they fled, much to our detriment.

that law protecting manufacturers was passed because democrats spend 24/7 figuring out ways to protect criminals..in this case families were suing manufacturers as if they were knowingly selling to criminals..everybody knows criminals steal their firearms…and the castle doctrine was passed because criminals getting shot by their victims during the commission of a crime was suing their victims

I think it’s a liberal democrat disease, I’m talking about lying, and it starts from the top and goes all the way down the body politic on the liberal democrat side of the isle predominantly, “for some reason”, the biggest lie of them all that comes to mind is – The Affordable Care Act – not affordable and not care on either count. When are we going to wake up and stop eating the nonsense they spew, I wonder.
