New Jersey: More Gun Control Measures Up For Senate Vote

New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- Tomorrow, the New Jersey Senate will vote on a couple of bills that once again attack the state’s law-abiding gun owners while ignoring the state’s violent crime problem.
Earlier this year, Governor Chris Christie took the bold and unprecedented step in New Jersey to expand the justifiable need standard to make it easier for law-abiding citizens to obtain a concealed carry permit. This incremental improvement would expand the state’s standard to include more general “serious threats,” rather than the state’s current standard which is almost impossible to meet. Since then, anti-gun lawmakers have been scrambling to do everything in their power to block that effort. SCR 117, sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-37), would reject the state police’s rule change with respect to “justifiable need.” Clearly, Sen. Weinberg doesn’t believe in self-defense for ordinary citizens. The few permits issued in New Jersey have been reserved for the rich and famous and politically connected. While state lawmakers enjoy armed security protection, anti-gun politicians in Trenton have abandoned ordinary citizens.
S.152, sponsored by Senator Fred Madden (D-4), would criminalize possession of the SS190AP (armor-piercing) round for the FN Five-Seven handgun. This ammunition is already banned under existing federal and state law:
18 U.S.C. 922(a)(7) and (8) prohibit the manufacture or import of armor-piercing ammunition, and N.J.S. 2C:39-3f bans armor-piercing ammunition.
The round is not even available to civilians. In other words, this legislation is redundant and unnecessary.
Please contact your state Senator and respectfully ask him/her to vote against these bills. Remind them that you support a law-abiding citizen’s right to carry and right to self-defense.

Time for action and calling people aint it
The States like California, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, etc. Are lost. They are never coming back. Best thing a gun owner can do is move. Take your property, cash out, and move out. Go to a State that acknowledges your rights. I make a conscious effort to not do business with any State or any business that doesn’t support my beliefs. It’s not always possible but I do my best. Move to a new State and then redouble your efforts to keep your rights intact.
Christie could make one move that would perhaps rattle those stuipd lawmakers (pardon the redundance here….) Simply order ALL armed security to stand down and cease to protect all lawmakers for the duration of the next legislative session.
Nothing like a foxhole experience to cause someone to reassess a “firmly held” position.
I ain’t contacting my state senator Sacco as it is a waste of time. He’s been in Senate since early 90s and for some reason people are still voting for him. Oh wait, I know why!: That’s because Hudson county is full of immigrants like me that listen to the media propaganda that Racist Republicans are evil and hate them. Also, most of them come from countries where 2A does not exist and all they know about guns is from movies and media which is portrayed in negative light. I know this as I was there myself. It’s a miracle… Read more »
Most articles on AL would be generously described as either property defence or more accurately honor defence. Very few would fall under self-defence.
