Great Mills Maryland : Armed School Resource Officer Stops School Shooter

U.S.A.-(Ammoland.com)- The NRA solution to end school shootings is to put armed officers in the schools. The left laughs at this suggestion. Their only solution is more gun control.

According to the NRA, “Only a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun.

The gun grabbing left laughs at this idea. They claim it is some type of right-wing fantasy that a good guy with a gun can stop a mass shooter. They make claims such as that by adding another firearm into the mix all it will do is exacerbate the problem.

I am on an anti-gun group’s internal mailing list. Today I received an email about putting armed officers in schools. They feared that this would lead to over-policing of schools and make minority students feel uncomfortable. It was their stance that it would be a mistake to add armed good guys to schools.

Then this morning happened. A gunman walked into Great Mills High School in Great Mills, Maryland and opened fired on students. The shooter hit a female student and a male student. Both are expected to survive.

A resource officer (a.k.a “a good guy with a gun”) engaged the shooter and was able to wound the suspect bringing the shooting to an end without the loss of a single innocent life. This incident played out exactly like the NRA predicted it would end.

A good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun.

The resource officer didn’t cower and hide from the shooter like what Scott Peterson did in Parkland, FL. He engaged the would-be killer and stopped what could have become another mass school shooting. In the process, he saved countless lives.

Maryland also has some of the most stringent gun laws in the country. These are the gun laws that “Every Town For Gun Safety” and “Mom’s Demand Action” have been pushing for nationwide. These didn’t stop the shooting. The ideas put forth by the NRA, GOA, NAGR, and The VCDL stopped the tragedy.

The leftist will spin this successful implementation of the pro-gun movement’s plan, and the failures of their solutions as somehow the NRA’s fault. They will lash out at the likes of Dana Loesch and claim that she cares more about her guns than her children.

They will use misogynist language by calling politicians “bitches” of the NRA. The reason they launch these attacks is to try to control the message. If you are defending, you are losing. The left understands this and will be unleashing their child pawns to try to put pro-gun, freedom-loving Americans on the defensive.

We will need a massive push back against these well-funded Astroturf groups. We cannot let their emotions be their facts. Engaging them is worthless. We must engage the masses of people on the fence in an honest conversation about school shootings. Engaging these gun-grabbing groups is useless.

We have for far too long let the left control the message. We must engage our friends and family through social media such as Facebook and Twitter. We must also engage with people face to face and explain our reasoning behind being pro-gun.

By pointing out that over 95% of all school shootings happen in “gun free zones” is a good start. Point out that Maryland has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, and a gunman still carried out an attack at Great Mills High School.

Point out the fact that the NRA’s “good guy with a gun” scenario is not a fantasy, and the Great Mills High School shooting is proof that it works to stop mass shootings. Let’s not let the left control the narrative on this one. They control the media, but with the power of the internet, we can become an alternative voice of truth in their world of using emotions as facts.

This didn’t get the headlines that the last school shooter got. You’d think that EVERYONE would see this as an intelligent way to stop armed criminals in the schools. Wouldn’t you? Gun grabbers? MSM? …

the St. Mary’s County Sheriff Officer is a pro constitution (including the 2nd amendment) Who uphold his sworn duty to protect the constitution and the laws of Maryland. His office has had to deal with several incidents recently And under his leadership I am sure his quick responses to them saved lives and will give any one who may consider violence as a solution second thoughts. Unlike what happens in the PC progressive world like what has happened in FL were they wait and allow the killing spree to start and continue unabated…

Charlie

SRO on Duty worked and No Amendments were Violated. As we have stated many times “A Good Guy with a Gun will stop a Bad Guy with a Gun”………if he runs towards the Gunfire.

BILL

We’ll that’s all well and good but governor Hogan already said give me a Bill and I guarantee you a signature. He’s nothing but a bitch walking around with his pasta around his ankles. I hear this while at the lgs picking up two new lowers that will not harm anyone.
I’m not from Maryland and I am so very proud of that fact. I would hate to have such weak and dishonest people in my lineage, and I’m in the part of Maryland that’s “supposed” to be “country” with good ole rednecks and everything, BS. THIS STATE SUCKS!!

I believe the kid shot himself and the goon cop shot a round accidentally. An idiot cop does not fire just one shot, they empty the gun.

I’ve been reading your comments for a while now and I suspect you of being a troll based upon them. Ad Hominem attacks are a poor excuse for a comment.
The SRO was acting properly, why do you call him a goon?
What proof do you have that he fired accidentally?
Officers are taught to fire until the threat is neutralized, not until they run out of ammunition.
Do you have ANYTHING to say that adds to the discussion, or is slander the sum total of your worth?

Dave,

Bravo! Well said, sir!

Mike

Which video game did you get your information

Dave in Fairfax

Based on the timestamps, I’m guessing that you are asking me.
I don’t play video games, never have.
I’ve been using weapons for over 60 years, in CONUS and SEA. For many years most of my friends were LE, of one flavor or another, or SPECOPS. Imprudent statements and bluster were not things I expected, or heard, from them. Hence the Quiet Professionals moniker.
Every group has bad apples. You’ll find LEOs with either Wyatt Earp or Barney Fife syndrome, but they are the abnormality.
I find many more people who aren’t Police or Military but are Walts.

Maybe Florida could get some lessons, good job maryland.

Yes! NONE of your NEW MD Socialists’s Gun Control would have prevented this crime nor ended it as quickly. That the RINO MD Gov will support. He cannot wait to sign their lists.

DixieBiker

Now let’s see if the Mainstream Media reports this story of it gets buried on page three!

“The gun grabbing left lauds this idea.”
I don’t think “laud” means what you think it means.

Wayne Clark

Looks like he corrected it.
