Governor Polis has disregarded the voices of concerned citizens who oppose gun control. He signed four bills that will harm law-abiding Coloradans’ Second Amendment rights. These bills include a pointless waiting period for firearm purchases, the removal of liability protections for manufacturers and sellers, denying young adults their right to purchase firearms, and expanding the “red flag” confiscation scheme.
For more information, please click on the bill number:
- House Bill 23-1219 delays Second Amendment rights by imposing a three-day waiting period before an individual may receive a firearm that they lawfully purchase, with limited exemptions. There is no evidence that waiting periods reduce violent crime. Instead, this simply denies someone the ability to buy a firearm for urgent self-defense.
- Senate Bill 23-168 repeals limited liability protections for firearms manufacturers, distributors, dealers, and importers. This bill allows individuals to bring a civil suit against gun and ammunition manufacturers and sellers for the simple act of selling a firearm.
- Senate Bill 23-169 denies Second Amendment rights to young adults aged 18 – 20 by prohibiting them from purchasing firearms.
- Senate Bill 23-170 expands Colorado’s “red flag” gun confiscation scheme, allowing for the confiscation of firearms based on mere speculation and hearsay evidence without due process of law. Such orders are designed to empower the government to confiscate Americans’ firearms and indefinitely delay Second Amendment rights.
The NRA is exploring all options to challenge these unconstitutional restrictions. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org and your email inbox for further updates on issues affecting our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in Colorado.

Hi Musicman44mag! You are half right so I will override one of your downvotes. Noem seems to be solid on freedom and gun rights.
Nothing like wetting your finger to find out which way the wind is blowing. Also reciprocity is a false flag. No license is needed for the 2A.
Those are all pretty messed up, but 23-169 is outright denial of Constitutional rights. Anyone who thinks that is acceptable, whether for arms or any other Constitutional right, doesn’t deserve to call themselves an American citizen.
The only reason such denials don’t universally fail in court is the narrow age band, so the affected parties keep “aging out” and thus not maintaining standing. Deprivation of rights routinely hides behind the slow clock of litigation. It’s disgusting.
Preliminary injunctions should be used primarily to support the Constitution.
I see the FUDD’s and Trolls have been actively down voting this comment. Without the courage to comment themselves. i will take 1 away as I agree with Musicman44mag.
Crunch…..crunch….crunch……SNAP!……..gurgle…gurgle….gurgle…
Buh-bye, Kalifornia!
As one who played a small part in the Grassroot efforts to defeat the 4 Bills, I know that HB 23-1319 and 23-169 were almost immediately challenged in court before Arse Spelunker Polis’ signature was dry. The other two will be filed on soon. HB 23-1219 has an Amendment the Republicans added that may defeat this bill before it’s enacted. If enough Coloradoans sign the petition opposing the bill, it delays the Bill’s implementation until the Bill is put on the General Ballot in Nov. 2024 for a Public Vote to approve/disapprove it becoming Law. The hope is that we… Read more »
I always wanted to go to Colorado, until now.
Noem, maybe. Trump? Definitely not. While he did some good things, he has also proven to be unhinged. If he is the nominee, Dems will win the WH again as well as the House and the Senate. It will all be over for freedom, private property, self defense and firearm ownership.
