During the Civil War, if you could load and fire your muzzle loader 3 times a minute you were considered to be sufficiently fast. That is load, aim, and fire every 20 seconds. No small feat when handloading and ramrodding each powder / wad & ball load, especially while angry people are busily shooting at you and you can hear the bullets ripping by. Because I own 4 single actions in .45 Colt (2 Blackhawks & 2 SAA clones), and have reloaded for them for 3 decades, and even mould my own bullets, I have a huge amount of .45 Colt ammo… so I bought one, for $199.
