NEW ORLEANS — George Peterson, 60, a resident of Waggaman, was sentenced on Jan. 9th, 2024, by U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to 24 months imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release, along with a $100 mandatory special assessment fee after previously pleading guilty to possessing an unregistered firearm silencer, in violation of Title 26, U.S. Code, Sections 5841, 5861(d), and 5871.
According to court documents, special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) executed a search warrant at Peterson’s residence, which also served as the storefront location for his business, PDW Gun Solutions LLC, a federal firearms licensee. During the search, ATF agents discovered a firearm silencer inside a safe in Peterson’s bedroom. ATF examination of the silencer revealed that ammunition had been fired through it.
The silencer was not registered to Peterson in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, as required by federal statute.
This case was investigated by the ATF. It is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David Berman of the Violent Crime Unit.

What part of, “The right of the people to keep and bear arms” is illegal or difficult to understand or unconstitutional? The day WILL come when the atf is made to pay for their crimes and their unconstitutional, made up, “laws.” I can still remember the day when 70+ innocent men, women, children and infants were murdered by the atf on live national television. So possessing hearing protection is a ‘violent crime’ ?
I’m not going to say anything realistic or negatively true, or eloquent, or nice, like Deplorable Bill said; because I know that they feed on it….and it makes them feel good… It turns them on to hear us say it, of how horrendous they are…..as minions of the evil empire…
Their actions, their existences, are abominable.
The word silencer has got to go and call it what it is, a sound suppressor or hearing protection device and then after that, the requirement to register a hearing protection device needs to be pulled from the ATF purview. It is still loud and the Decibels emitted is still higher than what the human ear should be subjected to which is no more than 70db over prolonged periods or 120 can immediately damage your ear forever. Besides George Petersen…can anyone else show me a VICTIM for this PRETEND crime? I also am trying to figure out the NEXUS between ATF and the average citizen. Since the so called crime is violation of failure to pay a tax, what CONTRACT did George sign that he agreed to specifically perform to pay a tax for the ATF or the FBI or any other UNCONSTITUTIONAL Federal agency?
I forsee the ATF declaring String Silencers and Speed Nocks illegal if their jurisdiction is expanded to include everything that can be classified as a “gun”. Don’t forget slingshots and peashooters – those are guns also.
