Buck Knives 110 Folding Hunter Knife – 60th Anniversary Edition
In 1964, the newly opened Buck Knives factory, located in San Diego, California, began full production of the 110 Folding Hunter knife after prototype testing. The 110 Folding Hunter was designed to meet the requests of hunters who wanted a sturdy knife that could be folded and placed into a pack or a sheath worn on the belt. The 110 did not disappoint and revolutionized the industry as one of the first folding knife with a lockback mechanism.
Today, the Post Falls, Idaho manufacturer offers multiple variations of the 110, which can be viewed here: www.buckknives.com.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the 110, Buck Knives has released a limited run of only 2,000 60th Anniversary Edition 110 Folding Hunters.
This exclusive knife is made of MagnaCut steel with the traditional brass and ebony handle. A 60th anniversary logo is etched on the blade and a 60th anniversary medallion is on the handle. I can think of 200 reasons to not buy this.
I have a 110 folding hunter that I had an Amish fellow sharpen. It’s as sharp as most scalpels and “unzips” a whitetail deer with almost no effort. I’ve had it for over 30 years.
Some years ago I heard that Walmart had a “good deal” on the 110. It did. But when I went to buy one as a gift for a friend, found the knife was made in China. No a accusations here, but just double check what you may be buying.
I have a 110 and a 112 in my gun safe but I opted for a folding Buck knife that is lighter to carry due to the synthetic material its made from . Same good steal just lighter to carry .
I still have one of these in my ‘knife drawer’. Actually my favorite Buck was the double bladed Ranger that I carried for decades as a belt knife working in the wildernesses of MT & WY. Although the Ranger doesn’t lock, I liked having two blades; one for keeping leather cutting sharp and the other blade less acute for more blade riskier jobs. A good knife was considered to be the essential piece of gear just in case things went less than expected and you ended up separated from your stock and on your own.
