Tallahassee, FL — An attempted robbery at Florida Hemp Distribution on West Tennessee Street ended in a fatal shooting Friday evening, with the employee involved claiming self-defense. The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to the scene just before 6 p.m., where they discovered one of the suspects dead inside the store.

According to Alex Petrick, co-owner of the store, two men entered the shop and approached the lone employee on duty. As the situation escalated, the employee drew his firearm and issued multiple verbal warnings for the would-be robbers to leave.

“Leave, leave. Don’t make me do this,” the employee reportedly said as one of the suspects advanced toward him.

Despite the warnings, the suspect continued to close in on the employee, forcing him to retreat until his back was against the wall. When the suspect lunged within arm’s distance, the employee fired his weapon in self-defense, fatally wounding the assailant.

The second man fled the scene immediately upon seeing the firearm.

“No employees were harmed, no arrests were made, and the employee was not handcuffed,” Petrick said, emphasizing that the store is open for business as usual. TPD questioned the employee and released him after several hours. No charges have been filed as of yet, and the investigation remains ongoing.

TPD spokesperson Heather Merritt confirmed that the case is still under investigation, with detectives conducting interviews to gather more details. While police have yet to confirm all aspects of Petrick’s account, they are urging anyone with information to come forward.

This incident highlights the importance of the right to self-defense, especially in situations where innocent lives are at stake. For many, this case will serve as a reminder of how critical it is to be prepared to defend yourself with deadly force when needed and responsible when exercising Second Amendment rights.

Officer: So, you saw the shooting?
Witness: Yeah man…I was standing over there and…hey! Are you gonna eat that donut?

As a Tallahassee resident, I’m surprised that the robbery attempts haven’t been more frequent. The pot stores are everywhere and pot isn’t legal here, yet, hopefully never. You can’t swing a six pack without hitting at least three stores.

Had to read the story to see if it had a happy ending. Well I got 1/2 a happy ending because the other SOB got away. Hopefully he will never do it again but I bet next time he will be armed himself instead. If so, I hope he gets next time what his buddy got this time.

I hope they find him and that the state has the law in place that if you rob someone and one of your thug buddies is killed that you go down for his killing.

“…Hemp store…” is the ‘smiley-face’ sanitized way of saying what the place really is and the clientele it attracts / caters to. Good the thugs are dead though. It’s a target rich area out there ‘Sea-to-Shining-Sea’.

What a quandary. A hemp store employee with a firearm. Better hope he bought it through a private sale.

If the “true facts” are as presented, that’s a real “my back was against the wall” situation.

The over blown hype of “Refer Madness” notwithstanding, pot does not make people violent. Sleepy? Sometimes. Hungry? Oh, yes! Violent? Pretty close to never. The fact that an armed robbery occurred in a pot dispensary should not come as any surprise. Nor should it lead us to the conclusion that the perps were stoned. Because of the restrictions of federal banking laws, pot transactions are a cash only business that banks, and credit card processors won’t touch with a 10 foot blunt. A modern day Willie Sutton might answer to the question of his reason for robbing a pot dispensary… Read more »

Hemp? What the fuk is that? Making rope? Handbags? Sandals? Or making dope. Pathetic losers. Must have been all toked up to let the perp advance and lunge at him. Anyway adios to the thief and maybe next time the drug dealer too.
