In a FU to the Boss: ATF Skirts Trump’s Anti-DEI Order with a Sneaky Title Change

In a brash move to dodge President Trump’s sweeping executive orders targeting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has quietly renamed its Chief Diversity Officer, Lisa T. Boykin, to “Senior Executive.”

Just hours after Trump’s administration issued an order to put all DEI staff on paid leave and warned against using “coded or imprecise language” to bypass this directive, eagle-eyed gun activist spotted the change on the ATF’s website. This maneuver by the ATF is seen by many in the pro-gun community as an attempt to keep DEI practices alive under the radar, despite the clear mandate from the White House to dismantle such programs across federal agencies and that DEI employees should be sent packing.

The executive order, signed by Trump right after his inauguration, aims to eliminate what he describes as “racist DEI programs” that he believes have no place in the federal government. This pushback came with a direct warning to agencies to ensure compliance or face consequences, highlighting a no-nonsense approach to government efficiency and merit-based employment.

The Gun Owners of America quickly condemned the ATF’s actions, calling for the agency’s abolition, stating, “This bureaucrat at ATF is trying to hide by changing her job title. WE MUST ABOLISH THE ATF.” This sentiment resonates with many who view DEI initiatives as an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy that detracts from the agency’s core mission of protecting public safety and enforcing federal laws related to firearms and explosives.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) even attempted to erase a webpage that celebrated the appointment of Lisa T. Boykin as its Chief Diversity Officer. However, in the digital age, the permanence of information online means that such actions are often futile. Thanks to the Internet Archive, a snapshot of the original page from January 17, 2025, at 22:37:24 EST, is preserved, ensuring that the information about Boykin’s DEI role and the ATF’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion remains accessible to the public.

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has been proactive in this scenario, requesting notifications of any similar attempts to obscure DEI programs through title changes or vague job descriptions, indicating a low tolerance for agencies failing to adapt quickly to the new policy.

This situation underscores a significant cultural and political clash over the role of diversity programs in government, especially within agencies like the ATF, where the focus should arguably be on law enforcement and regulation rather than social engineering. For many in the gun community, this is just more bureaucratic overreach and an affront to the principle that jobs in such agencies should be based purely on merit, competence, and dedication to the law.

As of now, the ATF has not responded to requests for comment on this title change, leaving many to speculate on the future of DEI within federal agencies and the broader implications for government hiring practices. This despicable whitewash job is a stark reminder of the ongoing tug-of-war between administrative policy change being dealt out by DJT and the entrenched practices within government institutions.

Hopefully, the Trump administration will take notice and send her packing along with the entire Agency. #DEFUNDATF

fire them all

Bigfootbob

It’s not advisable to FAFO with President Trump. I stand with Rep. Boebert!

The other Jim

Everone of those people should be immediately fired. Marino Vidoli and all of those people are no different then Andrew McCabe and Rod Rosenstein. Nothing good will come out of them, they are the enemy of the U.S. Citizens.

Mac

Fire every GS-14 and above to clean out the swamp!

Wild Bill

Attempting to evade the President’s order is sufficient to diminish the BATFE by firing every GS14 and 15. Next have the 1811s turn in their cars, firearms, and ammunition. Make the 1811s and 1801s sit at their desks all day. Make all other employees report to work every day. Soon there will be no BATFE.

Cappy

Prevarication, duplicity, and outright lying are an entrenched part of the ATF. The agency should be abolished and the leadership brought up on charges.

Montana454Casull

There is a simple solution to all this corruption and deception and that’s to defund and disband the entire agency.Return all these deceptive clowns to the private sector to work real jobs .

Jim

Thanks to GOA, thousands of gun owners sent letters to both the President and the Office of Personell Management highlighting this title change. Give Trumps Administration a little more time, he’s only just taken office. I’m sure he’ll do something about it as soon as he has 5 seconds to breathe. Hopefully his action will be to scrap the BATFE completely.

Fire this bish!
