FREQ ULTRASONIC GAME CALL

I love varmint hunting and bet I have 7-10 electronic calls, and that’s not including the multitude of mouth calls that I own. Well, I recently heard of a new call named the Freq Ultrasonic Game Call made by Gary Roberson, a well-known varmint hunter in Texas. I became acquainted with Gary Roberson via email years ago when he owned Burnham Bros. calls. I love their little Mini Blaster mouth call.

When I heard of Gary’s new Freq Ultrasonic Game Call, I called him right away and asked him what made it so special. He was super excited about this new call and filled me in.

He said that humans can hear sounds up to 20kHz, whereas animals can hear a lot higher up the scale. He went into a lot of his studies and years of exploring this subject, but in a nutshell, here are a few of his findings of different hearing levels for different species:

  • HUMANS 20kHz
  • DEER 30kHz
  • HOGS 40 kHz
  • COYOTES 44kHz
  • BOBCATS/LIONS 64 kHz

Here’s what this translates into in our world. If a coyote has been called much, they become educated and no longer come into a regular electronic call. But, he is finding that the older call-wise coyotes are coming into his Freq Ultrasonic Game Call. He determined this since they have called on a hard-hunted ranch with limited results, and with this new call, he is calling in old coyotes that previously have been call-shy. One such coyote had canines that were worn down to ¼-inches! He was well educated and had never come into a previous set-up.

This story got my attention! I had to get my hands on one of these calls! An opportunity popped up right away. A cousin told me that I had to grab some buddies and come clean out the coyotes on his ranch. They were eating up all of his fawns.

I got all the necessary gear lined up and me and Josiah Bowden were soon on a plane headed for Oklahoma. For this hunt, here was some of the gear that we’d be testing out:

  • FREQ ULTRASONIC GAME CALL
  • RUGER AR-556
  • PULSAR THERMION 2 XP50 PRO
  • TELOS LRF XP50
  • HORNADY 55 gr CX

I’m not the world’s most techy guy, but I figured out how to run the call in just a few minutes. It is super easy to operate. It uses rechargeable batteries, which is a lot cheaper to run than some of my other calls that use replaceable batteries. The Freq Ultrasonic Game Call comes with two rechargeable batteries and a charger.

Operating the call is simple. Open the front door on the canvas carrying case and turn on the call. It is run by a remote control. Hit the on button to turn on the remote (which runs on three AA batteries).

A screen will turn on. Hit the “Menu” button and click on your desired species, such as RABBITS. Then scroll down and select which sound you want, such as MONEY BUNNY, and hit the select button. Adjust the volume to the desired level.

There are other options, such as designating favorites or a pause button, but I’ve covered the basics above, and I am still discovering new features.

I was going to list out the calling offerings, but gee, the Freq Ultrasonic Game Call offers sounds to attract 15 different species and over 200 animal/bird sounds to attract these species. For coyotes alone there are 68 sounds! The manufacturer page listing out all of the sounds on the Freq Ultrasonic Game Call is a full page and it is super small Font, like about “6 Font”. So if I listed out all of the sounds, this one-page Product Review would turn into a three-page review.

So, if you’re a serious varmint hunter, I recommend that you check out the Freq Ultrasonic Game Call. The MSRP is $1,999.00, and as is usual, we will close with a few company comments.

Introducing FREQ, the world’s first ultrasonic, full-spectrum electronic game call. It operates like traditional e-callers but features two premium True Cast speakers, one low-frequency speaker that plays sounds at the end of the spectrum that humans can hear, and one ultrasonic speaker that plays high-frequency sounds. These speakers play full spectrum sound which was recorded on state-of-the-art recording equipment designed specifically to capture both low and high (ultrasonic) sounds. This patented technology is why FREQ dramatically outperforms ordinary e-callers and is exclusive to FREQ. There is nothing else like it available today!

Ever since the advent of the electronic game call, we have been calling animals with sounds recorded and played back on equipment designed for what the human ear can hear. Now, for the first time ever, FREQ provides sounds recorded and played back on equipment capable of producing full spectrum, ultrasonic sound which is how animals hear!

FREQ is the first ultrasonic game call. FREQ produces ultrasonic sound that reaches up to 50 kHz compared to ordinary e-callers, which produce sound that reaches just 12-18 kHz.
