On April 28, 2025, Representative Sheri Biggs (R-SC-03) reintroduced the No Frivolous Applications for Short-Barreled Shotguns (NFA SBS) Act (H.R. 3034). This legislation removes short-barreled shotguns from the National Firearms Act so that they will be treated the same way as any other shotgun under current law.
According to the ATF, the NFA was designed in 1934 to “curtail, if not prohibit, transactions” of certain items such as short-barreled rifles and shotguns.
This legislation will remove the $200 “sin tax” and paperwork requirements that deter law-abiding Americans from purchasing short-barreled shotguns.
“The NRA commends Representative Sheri Biggs for introducing the No Frivolous Application for Short-Barreled Shotguns (NFA SBS) Act which will remove short-barreled shotguns (SBSs) from the National Firearms Act,” said John Commerford, Executive Director of NRA-ILA. “Law-abiding Americans should not have to pay the ATF a $200 tax and complete onerous and unnecessary paperwork in order to purchase these practical tools for self-defense. It’s time to repeal this antiquated restriction on our right to bear arms.”
“South Carolinians and Americans across the country deserve leaders who will protect their constitutional rights — not bureaucrats who tie them up with red tape,” said Congresswoman Sheri Biggs. “Freedom shouldn’t be measured by the length of a shotgun barrel or limited by a post office counter. NFA SBS Act defends personal liberty, protects small businesses, and makes it clear that in America — especially in South Carolina’s 3rd District — we still believe in the Constitution. I am proud to fight for gun owners, hunters, and defenders of freedom.”
NRA-ILA will continue to update you as this important legislation makes its way through the legislative process.

Defund the NRA.
Maybe NRA should start with lobbying to repeal the law they lobbied for… The NFA?
Awesome! I will be contacting my Congressional Representative and asking for his support or sponsorship of this bill.
