Across the United States today, left-wing activists are staging what organizers call a “Day of Defiance” under the banner No Kings—a nationwide protest movement [www.nokings.org] designed to overshadow President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army with demonstrations at more than 2,000 locations. These events are being held not in Washington, D.C., where the president is hosting a military parade, but across major cities and small towns to “reject strongman politics,” according to organizers.
While the media frames these events as peaceful protests, millions of law-abiding gun owners and patriotic Americans see them as a politically coordinated effort to vilify the President, his ‘America First’ policy, the military, and anyone who supports constitutional government.

Who’s Behind the Chaos?
The protests are led by a coalition of progressive and anti-Trump organizations, including Indivisible, the ACLU, and activist cell 50501. Walmart heiress Christy Walton even bankrolled a full-page New York Times ad encouraging participation. While organizers claim a commitment to nonviolence, real-world conditions tell a more complicated story. Recent unrest in Los Angeles—sparked by overdue immigration enforcement—has already required military intervention.

In fact, just days before the protests, President Trump deployed National Guard troops to LA, while Texas Governor Greg Abbott surged over 7,000 Texas law enforcement and National Guard personnel in anticipation of potential riots. “Don’t mess with Texas—and don’t mess with Texas law enforcement,” Abbott warned.
Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey delivered a more blunt warning to would-be agitators:
“If you throw a brick, a firebomb, or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will notify your family where to collect your remains. Because we will kill you—graveyard dead.”
What Do Protesters Want?
The No Kings platform accuses the Trump administration of “defying the courts,” “disappearing people” – aka deportation, and “slashing essential services.” Their core message, “We don’t do kings in America,” aims to paint President Trump as an aspiring dictator. The irony, of course, is that these same activists have no problem being funded by billionaires or demanding censorship of opposing views.
The group’s official website makes it clear: this is not just a protest—it’s a cultural and political campaign designed to delegitimize President Trump’s leadership while merging with other movements like Pride, Juneteenth, and anti-police activism.
Advice for Law-Abiding Gun Owners
As pro-Second Amendment citizens who support the Constitution and the President, we stand for peace, preparedness, and order—not panic. But history has taught us that when radical ideologies get fired up and street-level organizing gets funded by billionaires, things can turn violent—fast.
Tactical Preparedness Notes:
- Avoid Protest Zones – Stay away from high-traffic protest areas, especially in metro regions known for unrest like L.A., Philadelphia, Portland, and New York.
- Situational Awareness – Be aware of “secondary effects,” like blocked roads, overwhelmed emergency services, and looting spillovers into suburban areas.
- Vehicle Prepping – Keep your gas tank full and carry a paper map. If GPS goes down or routes are blocked, you’ll need options.
- Gear Checklist (for home and vehicle readiness, not for protest areas):
- Flashlight with fresh batteries
- Medical kit with trauma supplies
- Fire extinguisher
- Water, shelf-stable food, and essential meds (minimum 3-day supply)
- Legal self-defense tools appropriate to your state laws
- Communication backups: radio, burner phone, emergency contacts written down
- Defensive Posture Only – Do not bring firearms to any protest areas, even if lawful in your state. The optics, risks, and confusion it could create are not worth it.

So Roanoke Virginia is on the list of cities. I am curious how nasty they will get in Roanoke. Law enforcement isn’t up to much of what I have seen in other places. Locals are from surrounding counties that are full of Conceal carriers. I think it’s up to the “protesters” to how bad it will get.
