Opinion

So, yet another Trump-hating, gender-confused leftist who seemingly despised all religion (but particularly Jews) attacks yet another ostensibly “gun-free” zone – this time, the Annunciation Catholic Church school – during Mass, with the intent to terrorize and kill as many children as possible.
We know all this because he left not only a YouTube screed (calling it a “manifesto” gives undeserved respect), but also inscribed his firearms and magazines with gems like “Kill Donald Trump,” “Who is your God?,” “Israel must fall,” and “Gas Jews,” not to mention the names of previous mass killers.
As always, none of this prevented gun ban advocates from immediately dancing in the blood of children to demand restrictions on semi-automatic firearms, ignoring that the killer used not only a rifle, but also a handgun and shotgun, repeatedly reloading as he rained death upon children.
That’s a lot of hate to unpack, but let’s give it a whirl, shall we? Especially because the legacy media are refusing to identify not only the killer’s ideology but also the reason he/she picked this particular target. Essentially, the Minnesota tragedy has four primary takeaways.
#1: Transsexual Radicalism Draws Unstable People
First, we have transsexual radicals bent on converting everybody in sight, one byproduct being sociopaths incited to murder as demonstrated recently in Nashville and now in Minneapolis. “Robin,” of course, was born “Robert,” having changed his name and gender with help from his mother [who has lawyered up]. But according to The New York Post, the killer “confessed that he ‘was tired of being trans’ and wished he ‘never brain-washed’ himself in a manifesto posted online before he slaughtered two children and wounded 18 more …”
Don’t you hate it when that happens?
You will notice that I am deliberately not making a case for whether transsexuals are, by nature, unstable. We can leave that for another day. What I’m saying is that like many radical leftist movements, transsexual radicalism draws unstable people – specifically, people with low self-worth and isolationist tendencies; people spurned by society. By validating asocial behavior, such radicalism allows psychopaths like Robin née Robert to justify terrorizing and murdering even children. Worse, for as long as we reward that asocial behavior, more “Robins née Roberts” will perpetrate mass killings.
#2: “Gun-Free” Zones Facilitate Mass Murder
Next, let’s examine target selection. Legacy media throw up their hands and say they haven’t a clue why he picked the Catholic school, except perhaps that his mother had previously worked there. As always, they studiously avoid mentioning what has become increasingly obvious to mainstream America: “Gun-free” zones attract violent sociopaths. In the Wall Street Journal, Dr. John R. Lott said it thus:
“The Annunciation Catholic School shooter in Minneapolis spelled it out in his manifesto: ‘I recently heard a rumor that James Holmes, the Aurora theater shooter, may have chosen venues that were “gun-free zones.” I would probably aim the same way … Holmes wanted to make sure his victims would be unarmed. That’s why I and many others like schools so much.’”
Noting that between 1998 to 2024, 92% of mass killings occur in these “gun-free” zones, Lott explains, “Many of these attackers may be crazy, but none are stupid. They plan to die, but they want to die with attention. They know that the more victims they kill, the more coverage they’ll get.”
#3: Gun Control Always Fails
The third takeaway from the Minneapolis shootings is the abject failure of exactly the type of gun control that gun ban advocates insist will keep us safe. Minnesota not only has a prohibition on guns in schools, but also “red flag” gun confiscation and “universal background checks” for private gun sales.
Given that Robin née Robert used not only a rifle, but also a handgun and a shotgun, with lots of time to reload, demands for banning semi-automatic firearms, which the left fraudulently calls “assault weapons” and “weapons of war,” are equally irrelevant.
#4: When Seconds Count, You’re Screwed
You’ve heard the cliché, “When seconds count, help is only minutes away.” Robin née Robert reportedly blazed away at the Annunciation Catholic Church for a full four minutes before doing us all a favor by capping him/herself.
Contrast that with the following church shootings:
- Colorado Springs, CO, 2007: After killing two and wounding two at Youth With A Mission, the killer attempted mass murder at the New Life Church but was shot and stopped by Jeanne Assam, a member of the church’s safety team (not, as media are fond of lying, a “security guard”).
- Sutherland Springs, TX, 2017: After mass murder at the First Baptist Church, the shooter exited the church to commit mayhem elsewhere, only to by confronted by Stephen Willeford, who ran barefoot from his nearby house, loading a magazine for his AR-15 as he ran. The two traded shots with Willeford hitting the perpetrator twice before jumping into a car with yet another Good Samaritan to chase him at high speed until he subsequently crashed his car and shot himself.
- White Settlement, TX, 2019: At the West Freeway Church of Christ, the perp shot and killed two before church security volunteer Jack Wilson stopped him with a well-placed shot to the head in exactly six seconds.
The Solution
After the Nashville massacre, Tennessee became the 33rd state allowing teachers to carry concealed firearms. Says Newsweek,
“The Tennessee law means faculty and staff in schools can carry concealed handguns on school grounds. To qualify, educators need a handgun carry permit and written permission from their school’s director and principal. A secrecy clause bars administrators from revealing to parents who in the school is armed.”
This year, North Carolina took another small step by passing House Bill 193, which empowers faculty and staff at private schools exactly like the one at Annunciation Catholic Church to carry concealed firearms provided they have concealed handgun permits, administrative permission, and eight hours of additional safety training. Since 2013, NC concealed handgun permit holders have been able to keep concealed firearms on educational property provided they are within closed containers in locked motor vehicles which are unlocked only for entry and exit.
Fortunately, there is a program called “Faster Saves Lives” which offers a variety of programs to schools, churches, and businesses to include crisis/emergency management, trauma medicine and, where permissible, firearms training.
As noted by legislators during the debate over HB 193, small private schools often can’t afford to hire armed School Resource Officers (SROs). Even where available, SROs may take minutes to respond when seconds are precious.
Armed faculty and staff give us the only chance to stop violent sociopaths in those precious seconds.
About Paul Valone
Author F. Paul Valone has been kicking leftist tail for twenty-eight years. Alarmed by the U.S. House passage of the “assault weapon” ban in 1994, he decided to take action. Finding no suitable organization, he organized a rally leading to the creation of a 501(c)(4) organization, Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC), which remains North Carolina’s primary and most successful gun rights group to this day.

We are in dangerous times! We are NOT meeting our funding goals! Will you help out?

Armed Intervention: ‘You Are Your Own First Responder,’ Says MI Church Volunteer

@Paul Valone – Thank you for all your hard word defending our civil rights – including this article. Unfortunately I doubt even a handful of lefts will read any of your words. Any civil-rights opponent would discount every word – as I’ve experienced in multiple conversations with individuals.
Thank you for information on this shooting. I know how long 4 minutes is. Any one person in that area could have responded in that time frame, but no one did. Any one person who was carrying a weapon could have stopped the killing, but no one did. Any one person could have tackled the shooter from behind, but no one did. Any one person with knowledge of the social conversations could have taken this killer on before he did his work, but no one did. Now, any one person who does not carry a weapon in every place that… Read more »
Not that I am disappointed or upset that everyone refers to them as gun free zones, but if the left refers to an AR 15 as an assault rifle or a weapon of war, we should refer to these zones as “gun free killing zones” to help get the point across to them like they do with us.
Just sayin!
When seconds mean the difference between life and death the cops are minuets away. Had the teachers been ALLOWED to carry things might have turned out differently. Had the school been granted their request for armed security things might have turned out differently. You simply can’t depend on government or law enforcement and this is proven just about every day. YOU are your own first responder. There was a reason why GOD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Anyone who lives, promotes or enables the same evil behavior deserves the same righteous response whether they are in government or not. GOD will… Read more »
There is nothing that sets off the anti-gunners more than mentioning or calling for armed staff/parents in schools. We get all sorts of emotional responses like “Teachers will fly off the handle and shoot kids” or “More guns means more death” or “Kids will get the teacher’s gun” — but the proof is it saves lives. Nobody has been shot in a school since 2001 (the date John Lott began the study) during school hours where it was advertised the staff was armed.
If people aren’t sure what sex they are maybe they shouldn’t own guns till they are sure. I use to sell and transfer firearms and have refused to do do so if the person has acted or given reasonable doubt that they should own one, if more shops/stores evaluated person in front of them rather than making a sale this might also slow these actions down. If I ever had a doubt about who was buying a firearm I ask them to wait and take my doubts to the owner and explain that if they want to make this sale… Read more »
