BELLEVUE, Wash. —  The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) honored its second recipient of the Golden Bowtie Award at this year’s Gun Rights Policy Conference in Salt Lake City. This year’s award was presented to gun rights advocate and influential legislative strategist Chris Cox.

Recipients of the Golden Bowtie are people and/or organizations who have made significant contributions of time, talent and treasure to SAF and its mission.

“SAF is the tip of the spear when it comes to fighting for our constitutional rights in courtrooms across the country, and it’s an honor to be named this year’s Golden Bowtie Award recipient,” Cox said. “The Second Amendment is not a second-class right, and I’m proud to fight alongside SAF to ensure our right to keep and bear arms endures for generations. I’ll proudly display the bowtie as a reminder of why we carry the banner for all Americans so they can continue to exercise their full Second Amendment rights.”

Cox is president of Capitol 6 Advisors and for 18 years was the legislative field general for the gun rights movement, an effort that saw a nearly 100% success rate in the halls of Congress and in most state legislatures. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful strategists in Washington, D.C., marrying legislative tactics to navigate Capitol Hill with cutting edge communications strategies to move public opinion.

“It was a privilege to present this year’s award to Chris who has been a mentor and a friend throughout my career,” said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. “When I started at SAF three years ago Chris became a tremendous resource and provided great counsel as I created my vision for the organization’s future. His resume is full of accomplishments, and there is no doubt he is certainly deserving of such a distinguished award.”

The Golden Bowtie Award was created in honor of SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, who continues to wear his signature neckpiece.

The award embodies Gottlieb’s spirit, character and grit when it comes to defending, securing and restoring our Second Amendment rights.

“I’m honored that this award was created with me in mind,” Gottlieb said. “More importantly, I am thrilled we were able to recognize the many accomplishments Chris has had throughout his storied career. Chris exemplifies the criteria behind the Golden Bowtie Award, and it’s great knowing we have such a staunch Second Amendment advocate on our side.”

3%er

Lapierres yes man is back? What the hell is 2AF thinking?

Nanashi

WTF? Why is 2AF promoting the advocate of red flag laws?

Stan

Not very related to the article and bowties for formal wear, yeah. Otherwise, I have no logical explanation but at 80 years old, I have never trusted a man who routinely wore bowties! Just seems, well, foppish.

Stan

Isn’t Cox one of the NRA “Booted Gang”?

Stag

You know what makes me want to NEVER give money to or support your organization in any way? Giving awards to people who support red flag laws and arms regulations.

“The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations.” – Joint statement by Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox

Chris Cox made a video when NRA ILA boss, calling for red flag laws,

He also was involved in lobbying Trump to ban bump stocks.
Once upon a time he gave an interview where he made it clear NRA had never wanted machine guns to be legalized.
This clown supports the Second Amendment? No he doesn’t.
And neither does Gotlieb wanted universal background checks,

Both are traitors to our movement.
