Designed as the ultimate battle rifle, the SIG516 G3 extends the legacy of the 516 series, bringing new technology to the venerable weapons system. Tested around the world and perfected in New Hampshire, the SIG516 G3 brings a decade of internal engineering know-how on similar rifle projects to create the most rugged, durable platform in its class.

Capable of performing under the harshest conditions, the SIG516 G3 utilizes premium components and an innovative feature set to deliver uncompromising reliability. I thought the main distinction between battle rifles and assault rifles was the former are chambered for full sized cartridges such as the 7.62 NATO round, while the latter are chambered for intermediate cartridges such as the 5.56 NATO.

Just don’t drop it.

Looks good but perhaps it should be scaled up abit to handle something like the new FN proposed LICC, a .264 (6.5 x 43mm) round. I always thought .556 to be a bit too light and 7.62×51 a bit too much for an infantry weapon. The new FN (or similar round) may be hitting the sweet spot that has been sorely needed for decades.

Yeah, it definitely isn’t a Battle Rifle, but I want one. (I still like my mini14.)

If they would make one chambered in 7.62×51, I REALLY want that one! That could be a Battle Rifle.
