Walther Arms, Inc. today announces the formal multi-year pause of production for its legendary PPK, PPK/S, and PP legacy handgun lines—marking the end of an era for some of the most iconic firearms in history.
For nearly a century, the Walther PP-series pistols have stood as global symbols of craftsmanship, elegance, and reliability. Immortalized in popular culture and revered by firearm enthusiasts worldwide, these handguns have set the standard for timeless design and performance. Today, Walther honors that legacy while clearing the path for the next evolution.
As part of Walther’s long-term product vision, the PPK, PPK/S, and PP will now enter a multi-year reengineering and modernization program. This initiative aims to enhance performance, integrate advanced manufacturing technologies, and elevate the user experience—all while preserving the iconic look, feel, and spirit that have defined these pistols for generations.
“This is not the end of the PPK story,” said Tyler Weigel, VP Sales of Walther Arms, “It’s the beginning of a new chapter. Our goal is to honor the heritage of these iconic firearms by bringing them into the future without compromising what made them classics.”

Translation: You’re about to see a combat Tupperware PPK in a few years.
Iconic. The first handgun I ever wanted. Bond…James Bond! Sean Connery was the best salesman Walther ever had. Walther never paid the movie producers to use their wares, they just gave them whatever the producers needed like for like.
I hope they improve the trigger pull, I bought one for my wife and never gave it to her as the trigger was so hard, It ruins you if you are a competitive shooter no way to modified it,
I believe that Smith & Wesson made some great improvements to those guns when they were making them under license from Walther. Under S&W’s production, they elongated the tang and relieved the bottom edges of the slide to alleviate slide bite.
All outdated designs. Walther can do better. We need a Walther PPS M3 with paddle mag release and 10 rounds.
