Friday’s vehicle ramming incident, perpetrated by ANTIFA, occurred on a bridge leading to a USCG Base in Oakland, CA.
ANTIFA rioters occupied the bridge for most of the day. Most departed after the majority had reached the end of their likely “paid workday”. A U-Haul van tried to ram the gate while driving backward. Gate guards fired multiple rounds at the truck after repeated commands to stop were ignored.
The truck stopped and then drove away. It was found abandoned a block away. The driver, with at least one gunshot wound, was arrested. A pedestrian bystander suffered a minor injury (treated and released at a local hospital)
No USCG personnel were injured.
My comment: ANTIFA is mimicking Communist revolutionaries of decades past. The genetic connection is unmistakable. Criminal violence is now the preferred “working tool” of the left, fully supported (at arm’s length) by Democrat politicians.
ANTIFA continues to show its hand. Friday’s attack may have been just a “test run.” Leftist political violence is obviously not limited to knives and guns.
Such vehicle-ramming attacks are hard to terminate. Small-arms fire is not effective in bringing a moving vehicle to an abrupt stop. Shooting the vehicle’s tires, even shooting the driver, will not alter the vehicle’s trajectory, nor speed (at least in the short term).
Cones, gates, fences, curbs, signs, painted lines, and even building walls are merely “symbolic” barriers. None represents any genuine ability to stop moving vehicles.
The rest of us need to start thinking about boulders and other kinds of bona fide vehicle barriers, not just chain-link fences!
In a proper context, Democrat politicians who tolerate, indeed support, this kind of violence (even tacitly) are liars and con men!

easy way to stop the rioters who block the entrances/exits of federal facilities, don’t slow down or stop. the rioters know they are not legally permitted to be there and should suffer consequences for doing so. if they get in my way, “i was sure i was going to get killed by them”.
who was the driver? who rented the vehicle? prosecute all to the fullest extent of the law.
the base needs more repel boarders drills and range time for the guards!
Mr. Farnam does not acknowledge the existence of the .50 Beowulf.
It is supposed to have engine block destruction capability and handy at check points.
John, this time I somewhat disagree. “Democrat politicians who tolerate, indeed support, this kind of violence” are not just “con men and liars,” they are plainly guilty of treason, and need to be dealt with as such. Con men and liars should be fined and jailed. Those guilty of treason face more severe consequences.
We need to ban these assault-weapons.
