Iowa - -( Silencer Bill Update!
A couple weeks ago we sent out an important Action Alert for legalizing silencers in Iowa.

If you have yet not taken action, please do so now. If you have taken action, forward this on to pro-Second Amendment friends and neighbors. We need to continue the push on this issue!

Additionally, please be sure to call your Senator and Representative. This additional, personal investment is invaluable to our effort. Find your legislators HERE.

As of today, IFC members have sent thousands of e-mails to legislators asking for support on this issue. We want to continue the push for bi-partisan support going into this critical week of the legislative session!

Constitutional Amendment Update
The founders of this great nation saw fit to protect our right to keep and bear arms with the Constitution, and so did the drafters of the constitutions of forty-four states. Unfortunately Iowa is not one of those states, despite our state motto being “Our Liberties we prize, and our Rights we will maintain.” Presently however, the Iowa Legislature has a measure before it to add this sorely needed legal protection into our constitution—but it needs your help to pass.

Any restrictions imposed upon a civil right must meet the highest of standards in order to be justified, but with the weak legal protections we have for our right to keep and bear arms here in Iowa, that right is under a constant threat from a much lower standard. So please contact your state senator and representatives today and tell them that a right so fundamental as that to keep and bear arms requires strong language in our constitution to protect it. Tell them you won’t settle for anything less.

Anti-gun Bill Introduced
Another attempt to restrict private sales of firearms was recently introduced in the Senate. SF 2179 would make common, everyday firearms sales transactions a crime! It would even prevent you from loaning a firearm to a friend for a hunt! And you would no longer be able to pass down firearms to your family members without creating a government paper trail. This impractical and unnecessary law would serve only to penalize law abiding citizens.

Again, use the links in this e-mail provided above to contact your legislators.
