NEWTOWN, Conn –-(Ammoland.com)- New York State still does not have the information technology infrastructure in place to enable retailers to perform the mandatory background checks on ammunition purchases required by the state’s SAFE Act, signed into law by Gov. Cuomo early in 2013.

So, such checks cannot be implemented for this year’s hunting season, state officials confirmed.

Asked when will the system be ready, a spokesman said, “Pursuant to the SAFE Act, the system will be considered complete after the Superintendent of State Police certifies that it is operational and that all business processes are functioning as required.”

In other words, it will be ready when it’s ready.

I left NY in the 90’s the writing was on the wall most people I knew worked 2-3 jobs to make ends meet , watched my parents $20k home turn into $8k/yr property taxes. This is happening everywhere, keep people poor by taxing them til they need multiple jobs to live. I watched gun rights never return to NY after the AWB expired.
Glad I left , hate to visit the place that violates my right to carry and self defense, about the only thing worse is jury duty slavery. Even conscripts where paid more 40 years ago

Since there are few FFL’s in Westchester co.,you will have to go out of state for ammo, when you do you won’t get one box of 20,you will 500 rounds or more, then they will call you a terrorist for stock-pileing ammo.

I wonder who Cuomo will blame in his next ‘rant’ about guns and who’s fit or not to live in New York?
