Washington, DC – -(Ammoland.com)- April 27, House Bill 5054 passed the House of Representatives with a 104-42 vote.  HB 5054 is a large omnibus bill which threatens your Right to Keep and Bear Arms as well as your Fifth Amendment right to due process

Please click the “Take Action” button to contact your state Senator with your opposition to this legislation!

HB 5054 would require the recipient of an ex parte temporary restraining order to surrender their firearms to the police or a licensed dealer within 24 hours of being served with an order.

This ex parte order strips the accused of their Second Amendment rights and would be issued by a judge based solely on a brief statement of an accuser before the accused can appear in court to defend themselves against the allegations.

Often these orders come with no allegations of criminal behavior.  These bills clearly go against an individual’s right to due process and presents a real threat to gun owners across Connecticut.

People of Connecticut should not let their guard down !!! The slime bag como came in the middle of the night to get the UN safe act passed in new york !!!! That was in 2013 it still has not got to the courts, but once the slime bags get it passed it becomes very and costly to get rid of it !!!

NO ONE actually thinks such legislation “passes Constitutional muster.” Those who advocate gun-control don’t care about the Constitution… they simply intend to pass legislation that – for practical, real-world purposes – works (however illegally) to their advantage.

I broke up with my ex-girlfriend two years ago when I realized that she was a sociopath. There was never violence, any threat of violence or anything physical in nature, but the verbal rhetoric got testy.

If I was a gun owner, and this law passes, she could lie to the police that I threatened her, and the police could confiscate my property. They could suspend my constitutional rights without due process.

How does anyone think this passes constitutional muster?

Robert

Bloomberg is spending big bucks here in Washington state to get this on the ballot this year under the guise of “domestic violence restraining order” because it failed to make it through congress. Unfortunately the sheeple here are too uninformed and ignorant of just what such a law could do. It’s a damned shame we are forced to put our rights in the hands of the general public!

Surrender your gun and never see it again. These police state agencies love to get free stuff …. what gun? Did you turn in a gun? Prove it!

I hope all the lawful gun owners in Connecticut leave their state and allow the criminals to take over. Maybe they’ll realize something when their state becomes the next Chicago. I also hope that all the lawful gun owners of every restrictive gun control state leave their state so this gun control freaks could not blame the lawful gun owners if something bad or terroristic thing happens to their state.

Someone PLEASE start filing lawsuits against these legislators for violation of there oath of office and constitutional rights violations.

Wild Bill

MR, there is no penalty for violating an oath of office. And the courts are loath to take a case that is a political question. We have to start with this next election. We need legislators that will institute reforms like the right of the people to recall federal judges and Congresspersons. Term limits. There is a term limit on the presidency, why not on Congress too? And Congress should be subject to its own legislation. When a Congress person retires, the money still in their campaign fund should go back to the contributor or to the general fund, rather… Read more »

We’ve had this in Pennsylvania for thee last several years. Here, the Police not only come to your home to demand that you surrender all firearms, they have gone to the home of the Parents of the subject of the Protection Order, and taken all guns from there. Talk about a slippery slope.

Another reason to never register anything ..

DaveC

Can’t the NRA, etc. sue Pennsylvania for lack of due process? Once the police have your weapons, good luck trying to ever get them back!

one more time Marxists and Islamists who infect our federal government plus the media whores who protect them will gleefully lie, falsify, fabricate, slander, libel, deceive, delude, bribe, and treasonably betray the free citizens of the United States into becoming an unarmed population. Unarmed populations have been treated as slaves and chattel since the dawn of history. The Second Amendment foes lying about gun control – Firearms are our constitutionally mandated safeguard against tyranny by a powerful federal government. Only dictators, tyrants, despots, totalitarians, and those who want to control and ultimately to enslave you support gun control. No matter… Read more »

May be at last we get the second shot heard around the world.

And this also will go nowhere as the last 2 attempts did!

DrSique

The states of Connecticut and New York both passed gun registration laws. They were largely, and rightfully, ignored. The tyrannical governments of many states will continue their push for despotism until the backlash becomes far more serious than the offense. “Those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it”. Apparently, the far left have forgotten about Lexington and Concord.

Nobody died at Sandy Hook.

It is hard to believe that the birthplace of the American Revolution has eroded to this.

TEX

Connecticut,a real firearms owners paradise !

Bud

These laws are like a large invitation to criminals.
