Wisconsin County & Local Government Building Gun Bans

Wisconsin –-(Ammoland.com)- We’ve seen a great expansion of freedom this past year as the Wisconsin legislature passed concealed carry into law.

While many of us have been open-carrying for years on a daily basis, for others, the concealed carry law will provide an opportunity to exercise your right to carry that you have been denied for your entire life.

Wisconsin’s 130+ year old ban on concealed carry has ended. Its unfortunate that after the legislature has restored this right, so many county and local municipalities are now opting to ban carry from county/local government, ignoring the human-right to carry for self-defense that the legislature has finally restored.

Its one thing for a private business to decide to ban carry on their private property. Most have chosen to stay neutral and post no signs encouraging, nor preventing carry. As a private business its their right to choose.

The current law does give municipalities the ability to ban carry in their buildings.

Local elected officials who you voted for, who work in buildings that you the taxpayer pay for, are now opting to take away your right to carry in those very buildings (that you pay for through your taxes). This is legal, but it is unjust. If a private business wants to be extreme and ban carry, that is a choice.

For local governments to do so is immoral. Government should be protecting your rights, not infringing upon them.

Here is a story discussing the Marathon County action on a carry-ban in all county buildings.

Please take the time to contact as many Marathon County board members as you can. Phone numbers are listed for each of them. Some also have a biography that lists email addresses. At this time we don’t know which members support the ban and which do not.

  • Ask them what their position is on the county building carry ban.
  • Ask them to support your right to carry as a law-abiding citizen.
  • Remind them that a lunatic like we see on the news in Nevada will ignore silly signs but the law-abiding who respected the signs would be defenseless against a criminal on a rampage.
  • Remind them that governments exist to protect your rights, not deny them
  • Remind them that in 1998 74% of the entire state population voted to amend the state constitution to affirm the right to carry and that they will need to answer to voters as to why they would deny the right to carry in buildings you pay for.

About:
Wisconsin Carry, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation and reclamation of the rights of law-abiding Wisconsin residents to carry in the manner of their choosing. We believe that “open carry” and “concealed carry” are choices to be made by law-abiding citizens based on their situation and preference. Wisconsin Carry, like many gun-rights organizations in Wisconsin, is investing a great deal of resources to get Wisconsin law changed to allow concealed carry this next legislative session by proposing Constitutional Carry. Wisconsin Carry, Inc. will continue to use legal recourse to deter unlawful treatment of law-abiding Wisconsin residents who currently exercise their right to open carry, and soon will exercise their right to concealed carry in Wisconsin.
