New Jersey –-(Ammoland.com)- New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) extends its condolences to the family of stabbing victim, Carol Bowne.

We condemn all acts of domestic violence regardless of the tool used. NJ2AS has learned that Ms. Bowne applied in April for a New Jersey Firearms Identification Card and Permit to Purchase a Handgun, and checked on the status of those applications on the Monday before her death.

I was also told by Carol’s brother that she went to the police department several times a week and expressed fear for her life and that her psychotic ex boyfriend “was going to kill her.”

NJ2AS has condemned the State’s flawed permitting process for years. The flawed, dilatory process abuses the rights of New Jersey’s law-abiding citizens and was the sole reason Carol Bowne was murdered. Had she lived in a different state she would have been able to defend herself against her violent and convicted felon ex-boyfriend who she had a “restraining order” against.

A right delayed is a right denied. Tragically, the right delayed was a life denied for Ms. Bowne.

While the anti-self defense gun bigots are celebrating that New Jersey has the most restrictive gun laws which make us defenseless against violent criminals, they have made absolutely no statement or even acknowledged Carol’s death. The reason is the same that I stated in my last email a few days before Carol was murdered–they do not care if you are assaulted or murdered as long as a gun was not used. Plain and simple. When Senator Sweeney was asked about the issue he was quick to shrug it off with a quick “what happened was tragic.” No call to action, no press release, no contact with the family to extend condolences. Nada! Imagine what kind of outrage he would have spearheaded if she was killed with a gun. This hypocrisy needs to end and while Senator Sweeney and the gun-bigots.

To make matters worse he was also quoted by a newspaper that the “police are under armed and overwhelmed.” Not only did he contradict himself he also reinforced our points; the police will not always be there to prevent a crime and at the same time he said he will never support conceal carry. So basically you are on your own. Last week we held a peaceful protest at his home and within seconds 4 police cars showed up and the police chief himself took off from his afternoon BBQ to personally protect Senator Sweeney. I was blown away at the level of protection he gets against a group that poses no threat, yet when Carol Bowne had legitimate threats against her life by a convicted violent felon she was provided no protection!

Here is a short video summary of the protest last week: https://youtu.be/3Af2OAPICiE

We need to keep the pressure on Senator Sweeney who supports the laws that caused Carol’s death and thousands of other innocent victims in New Jersey.  If you would like to make a donation in Carol’s memory, the family has suggested that donations be sent to: https://www.womenofhope.org/Donate/Make_a_One_Time_Donation/ Where it states ‘Purpose’ please state “On behalf of NJ2AS for Carol Bowne”

Best regards,
Alexander Roubian

These guys walking with signs are doing a good job bringing light to the tragedy and how it should have never happened. BUT, these guys shouldn’t be smiling and having a good time on the ground where this woman was murdered. Just some advice about respect.

They are protesting outside of Senate pres. Steven Sweeney’s home. And they ruffled the Sweene’ys feathers. So, perhaps a little smile my be earned.
