West Virginia –  -(Ammoland.com)- West Virginia Citizens Defense League ( WVCDL ) members once again made me proud to be West Virginian. West Virginia Citizens Defense League members in black shirts out-showed the opposition in today’s House Judiciary hearing on a 10:1 ratio.

This was absolutely noticed by leadership and the committee.

And it absolutely had an effect in the vote this evening that passed Constitutional Carry to the floor. Not only did it pass, but it passed without damaging amendments or changes. (Mercer County members and supporters, EXCELLENT WORK!)

This was probably the most significant hurdle constitutional carry faces this year. We must still be diligent, particularly when the bill is on second reading (expected Friday or Monday) and subject to amendment.

We need to keep this momentum. Passage of this historic bill rests on your shoulders. We need you to call or email your House of Delegates representatives and ask them to pass this bill without changes.

Find them here.

If you cannot find your legislator, call me at 304.421.3404 or email me at [email protected], and I will personally help you find your representative.

Stay tuned for more action alerts.

Initial Media Coverage

In a bizarre, and rather astonishing turn, the Charleston Gazette has made you all famous.

Check out the graphic associated with their article covering today’s hearings.

Not long ago, the Gazette would either pretend we don’t exist, refer to us as “special interest groups,” or attack us as the radical and extreme minority. In their coverage of today’s hearing, the first words in the article recognize you and your efforts, as does the accompanying photo showing our distinctive black shirts that filled the chamber. There were so many of us, that no camera angle possible in the chamber would have been able to avoid that logo.

You can watch the hearing here.

NPR has a podcast on the bill and the hearings available here. The podcast contains a lot, so to get to the Constitutional Carry portion, scroll forward to the 19 minute, 20 second mark. The coverage was actually fair.

Special Thanks

Special thanks to West Virginia Citizens Defense League members Kathie Hess Crouse, Katie Fuller, and Keith Carte for their testimony in the hearing. Keith Carte was actually ambushed, and subject to what seemed like a hostile cross-examination by Delegate Shaffer (D-Preston). Keith kept his composure, and handled Delegate Shaffer’s questions with poise and grace.

Believe me, it takes guts to stand up and speak. Thank you all for standing up.

Lobby Day

February 15, 2016. Come stand with us in defense of your rights!

I look forward to seeing you all in the Capitol in Charleston!
