(AmmoLand.com) RIVERSIDE, IA – The 13th Annual Aiming for a Cure Foundation Celebrity Hunt and Banquet, held March 11-13 in Riverside, IA, provided financial support and awareness to children and families dealing with difficult times and decisions as they face childhood cancer.
“I have been on the board of the Aiming for a Cure Foundation since the beginning. Over the last 14 years have seen what a difference we can make in the lives of children and families going through the process of cancer. I am so proud of the outdoor industry partners like Mossy Oak, Federal Premium Ammunition, Quaker Boy, Mi-T-M Corporation and many others who donate to such a worthwhile cause,” said Tim Anderson, Public Relations Director and ProStaff Manager for Mossy Oak. “And also, a big thanks to the celebrities like Brenda Valentine, Ashley Jay, Alan Treadwell, Jim and Erin Kelly, Sean Considine, Brandon Scherff, Dan Gable and countless others who donate their time and resources.”
The 2016 banquet event grew over 20-percent from previous years while increasing proceeds over $200,000. This event drew many new faces and interest in partnering with the Foundation efforts that is made up of volunteers, allowing 100-percent of the proceeds raised to go back to their mission statement.
“With the support of Platinum Sponsors like Mossy Oak, we will continue to provide support for childhood cancer and other costs that medical insurance does not cover,” said Steve Ries, President of the Aiming for a Cure Foundation. “This relieves financial burdens from families under treatment for cancer.”
The Aiming for a Cure Foundation was started by 11-year-old Ben Ries with a purpose to help other children going through the same treatments he was receiving at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital in Iowa City, IA. Ben Ries’s interest in hunting dogs and relationship with celebrities laid the foundation to help raise nearly 2 million dollars over the past 13 years. Today, Aiming for a Cure honors his legacy with many great people coming together for the same cause.
