Mother of Dead Armed Robber Wants Her Son’s Shooter Jailed ~ VIDEO

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- “Why in the hell did this guy [pizza employee] have a gun?”

That’s the question Temia Hairston is asking in the aftermath of her son, Michael Grace, Jr., being shot and killed while trying to rob a North Carolina Pizza Hut restaurant with his own gun.

While we weren’t there, we think we can answer the question pretty definitively for Ms. Hairston; that Pizza Hut employee was carrying a firearm because of people like her son.

Police said Grace Jr. was armed and he along with two other people tried to rob a Pizza Hut in the 3200 block of Freedom Drive. During the incident, an employee fired his own handgun and killed Grace Jr. …

The parents are angry that their son was shot and killed by an employee. They don’t believe the full story has been released to the public.
Apparently Ms. Hairston believes there’s some kind of conspiracy surrounding the fact that a Pizza Hut employee chose to carry a concealed gun while working in a retail operation that’s open late into the night. She can’t fathom why someone who’s working for a living would violate his employer’s policy by packing while on the job.

Hairston thinks there was something more going here. Her son had worked at that particular Pizza Hut in the past and was no doubt a model employee.

She said her son was shot in the head, and she thinks the shooting may have even been personal, citing past conflicts Grace Jr. had had with other employees at the restaurant.

“This wasn’t a body shot. This was a head shot. My son was shot in the left side of his head just behind his ear. A head shot is personal,” said Hairston.

Besides, no one has the right to use deadly force to defend himself and other innocents during the commission of a crime. We can’t have people shooting armed robbers who threaten them. Only police officers should have that right.

“If there was to be a death, it was not the place of the employee at Pizza Hut. That is the place of law enforcement,” said Hairston.

Because as we all know, police are always able to be at the scene of every crime, right when they’re needed most.

So while Ms. Hairston doesn’t condone what her son did, she says the employee who defended himself and his co-workers’ lives needs to be held to account for his actions.

Hairston said she thinks the employee who shot her son needs to be in jail, and wants all parties involved in the situation to be honest about what happened.

We couldn’t agree more. A little honesty about the death of her son would be a breath of fresh air at this point.

    1. If an armed robber points a gun at me that is up close and personal, he should expect to have hollow points entering his body.

    2. I most certainly hope the mother of the dead armed robber files a civil lawsuit against the armed citizen.
She will loose in court and the armed citizen can get big money from her each paycheck she earns.

    3. You could all be missing the point. I think she doesn’t care about her son. She sees it as a way to MAKE money from this tragedy. If she can make anything about this a suable situation, she’ll be asking megabucks so she can try again with another ‘son’.

    4. This mother is obviously an idiot and should not be allowed to breed. Her son was eliminated from the gene pool because he was an armed thug in the commission of armed robbery which is a felony. What is there to understand besides this? When her son was given a lead pill he took the long dirt nap, The shooter did society a big favor, he will not be robbing anyone else again ever.

    5. Typical ghetto whining. Raise a punk, he gets capped doing an armed robbery, she begins the usual too-little-too-late blaming. Looking for a race-based wrongful death payday, I’ll bet. Ho-hum….

    6. So, whiny mama. What did you thug son point his gun at? Thugs like to point their gun at the face of their victims to intimidate them. The defender defended himself in the same way. The thug likely had an opportunity to drop his gun and leave. As long as he kept that gun in his possession, he was a threat.

    7. The head shot is easily explained on several levels.

First, at such close distances, it is unwise to make any move that is not, on its own, final. Warning shot, even a heart shot, the perp might not turn lights out instantly and may well get off two or three rounds back at ME. Second, with others about, and moving rapidly, in the store, aiming centre mass COULD, by a miss or overpenetration, endanger soeone else. The head shot would be high to start with and likely angling upward, thus far more likely to not pose any danger to others in the area. It COULD even have been the result of the excited state of the Hut employee, adrenaline dump, etc, such that as he brought his handgun into action he pressed the trigger before the barrel was properly pointed at centre mass, but was still being lowered to address the desired target area.

In any case, Momma has no one to blame but her sorry self for not raising a boy (“BOY”?? He appears to be late 20’s or 30’s.. bout time he wuz all growed up and such) who knew to respect other people and their stuff. Thus, he’s most likely had a njice long chat with the likes of Trayvon Skittles Martin, Michael Hands Up Brown and a few of their bros. And for precisely the same reason. NONE of them had been taught to respect other people AND their stufff.

    8. I think she ahould be charged for bringing up a pos dirt bag thieving son. Toss her sorry excuse of a self in prison .

    9. If this guy were ‘down on his luck”, why didn’t he sell the gun he used for his attempted robbery? I’m sure he could have found a buyer in short order.

When any kind of weapon is used in a robbery, or any other confrontation, the culprit is basically saying ” do as I say or I’m gonna use this on you”. This Hut employee had every reason to fear for his life and the lives of the other employees and patrons, and he took appropriate action. Par for anyone with enough guts. And, obviously, he couldn’t use up precious time trying to decide on the best spot for his slug(s) to land. When pressed into action by fear and intimidation, our survival instinct takes over and we’ll use anything available to prevent bodily harm or death.

The moral here is: If you’re gonna go dancing, be prepared to pay the fiddler, ’cause he/she just might demand payment before the music starts.

    10. Caca happens, even to scumbag robbers. I’m glad the scumbag bought bought the farm, one less dummy scumbag roaming the streets and menacing the people.

    11. If this happened in Wisconsin and several other states Ms Hairston could be rest assured justice would be servered.

The two accomplices that committed the robbery with her son would be charged with murder in the death of her son.

    12. What about the other two robbers? Did the employee not pop them because they were unarmed? If so, amazing restraint consistent with good self defense techniques! Good job to the employee!

    13. WoW! This mother needs a to get her head checked! Play stupid games win stupid prizes! If you don’t want to get shot in the head don’t try to rob a business!

    14. It’s become an epic argument of right over wrong and anti gun sentiment and pro gun support. The actual issue gets covered over which is, some people would rather be a useless drain in society instead of productive individuals. I have two sons who were stuck in a job finding hole. Both made decisions to relocate on their own. One is in Utah and one in Oregon for the hunting. They both went on their own with zero support and found the jobs to get started.

People need to be resourceful and look beyond home and welfare for support or robbing others for what they worked to obtain. I don’t care what your situation, when you opt to rob people you’re forfeiting your life or freedom. Life has it’s shit days and it’s euphoria, it’s what you decide to do which determines how bad it gets. Pick up a shovel instead of a gun. Pull wire or pick up construction trash before you mug someone. I’ve traveled my share and have been on the extreme downsides of life. I’ve been shot and shot back. I surmised the situations as this, some people are just fkn stupid and need removal. This punk thug is one

    15. When will this madness end? Poor black folk being mercilessly gunned down while in the peaceful perpetration of their felonies! Please write your Congressmen and demand that this uneducated segment of our society be given special privileges over and above all others, just because they want it.

      1. @SG.
Be glade Obama isn’t around, He’d be right there ,
with her pushing to have the guy (thief) enshrined as a saint .
And the clerk boiled in oil .

      2. Or just move to Stockton California, where they are implementing a Universal Basic Income polilcy. if you’re breating, you get fi’ hunna diollah every month. No need to rob the Hut late at night.
(next thing ya know, someone will launch a lawsuit claiming that ONLY $500 a month is too little….. and demand MORE for the nothingburgers they serve up all month long.

    16. I know a place where a young man with a backbone and the will could get some work.
The only one needs jailing is the rest of that trash family.

    17. Spare me. Give the employee a raise.

“She wished the police had handled it instead of an employee” translation….better my son had killed eveyone in the restraunt instead of being killed himself.

Picture of a welfare slut mom.

      Great shooting!

    18. This guy knew that the PIZZA HUT policy forbid PERSONAL firearms at work. He likely PERSONALLY picked PIZZA HUT as an easy mark. He PERSONALLY made the choice that ended his life. Thankfully, an employee choose to be prepared to defend themselves instead of follow the rule to be a sitting duck. (WANT TO SEE HOW TO CHANGE PIZZA HUT POLICY? HAVE THE CEO DO 6-MONTS OF NIGHT DUTY PERSONALLY working IN PIZZA HUTS.)

    19. 2 to the head 1 to the chest thats how i roll.and i dont care how far down on your luck you are.seems he got what he deserved theres no issues here.

    20. He was down on his luck?? Give me a break. Go to a social service agency, beg if you have to but pulling a gun a people and getting shot anywhere (in the body) by someone defending himself is the risk you take when you break the law. The worse thing is the employee will probably loose his job and even worse Pizza Hut will pay these parents to go away. The guy didn’t come to his residence and pull a gun he went to the store (Pizza Hut).

    21. Yes, there is a part of the story that is being left out: The failure of the parents to inculcate their offspring with values and ethics.
Sorry Ma’am. You didn’t so YOUR job. She’s sore because she is partially to blame.

    22. Her POS son got zackley what he deserved… DEAD ! She should be proud of her child raising ability.
KUDOS to the pizza guy !

    23. She seems to imply her son was executed related to the bullet’s entry point. I would suggest that when her son turned his attention away from the armed employee, the armed employee used that chance to draw and fire, resulting in a headshot behind the ear. Sorry lady, you did a poor job raising your son, you are to blame for his behavior and subsequent early demise

    24. She’s just upset that she didn’t win the “ghetto” lottery and have a cop shoot her little thug. Then they can sue the city for a big settlement. The pizza worker doesn’t have deep pockets, so the scumbag lawyers aren’t calling her.

      1. @Doug, You better do more reading and less guessing. Shooting until the weapon is empty is the result of extreme fear, and provides a clue as to the mind set of the person.

      2. “Personal”?? Although I’ve learned to never underestimate stupidity, I must ask… What the hell kind of idiotic ghetto logic insists that only people who know each other… can or will shoot one another in the head?

Citizens have every legal right to completely stop a violent criminal attack against themselves (or nearby innocents), and they must then cease their own use of deadly force as soon as the “danger” is completely eliminated. The ONLY way (even in the case of firearms) to guarantee the immediate removal/stoppage of danger from/by an armed attacker is a complete disruption of the central nervous system (brain, brain stem, and/or upper spinal column). NO other physical damage to a human body can be guaranteed to produce such an immediate result, and any damage less than disruption of the central nervous system may indeed result in a continuation of the attack.

A “head shot” is truly effective, but it is NOT necessarily personal.

    25. “Besides, no one has the right to use deadly force to defend himself and other innocents during the commission of a crime. We can’t have people shooting armed robbers who threaten them. Only police officers should have that right.”

This is likely the dumbest statement ever uttered. I understand it is a paraphrase of the Mother but Good Lord that is pathetic.

      1. Armed Perpetrators Lives Matter… we cant have legal gun owners just shooting these Armed Thugs.. Think of their childrens. New law to replace stand your ground called. Wait To Be Shot… Then you can hit the Armed thug on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. He has to be healthy to keep stealing to provide for his kids. It’s not like we should expect him to get a job or anything. That mother is about the dumbest person I’ve ever heard. I’m amazed she knows how to dress herself in the morning.
Anyone else notice the news story started off saying her son was shot and killed by a pizza hut employee with no mention until later he was robbing the place at gunpoint? Little antigun bias spin I would say.

        1. cant have legal gun owners just shooting these Armed Thugs.. Think of their childrens.

Ackshully I like to believe that the Hut employee WAS thinking of this sick dude’s chilluns…… extending mercy to them by removing their sperm donor from their already plenty miserable lives.

That perverted momma needs to sit her sorry self down in front of her TeeVee set and watch the film Cinderalla Man. Now THERE is a story of a Daddy, down on his lick and victim of a lot of circumstances not his fault, that rose up, grabbed the bull by the horns, did what he could, wrassled that bull to the ground, and TOOK CARE OF HIS FAMILY. Without stealing from anyone. In fact, his integrity is so high that, once he turned around his circumstances, he repaid every penny of the little bit of public assistance he DID get to keep his kids from starving.

          1. I did have my sarcasm hat on I just forgot to put my sign out..
That movie Cinderella man was a great flick especially since it was based on a true story..

    26. At over the counter distances, face shooting is a pretty good idea. A hit is like throwing a switch…lights out. Conversely, you can send one through a thugs heart and he can continue to fight until his oxygen level drops in his brain.

If I were to be confronted with the threat of deadly force at over the counter distances, I can assure you that I will be aiming at the ocular/nose triangle. Nothing personal about it.

It is unfortunate that this felon decided to threaten innocent lives with a deadly weapon. It is very fortunate that someone was there to protect innocent lives.

Bottom line is the felon initiated a deadly confrontation thereby putting himself and everyone else in the restaurant in harm’s way. With that comes inherent risks.

    27. ” . . . the employee who defended himself and his co-workers’ lives needs to be held to account for his actions.”

Like free pizzas for life? Employee of the Year award?

But if the past is any guide, Pizza Hut will fire that employee for violating company policy; based on their past actions (like firing a delivery man who shot an assailant) Pizza Hut considers their own company policies more important than a person’s life.

      1. Personally, I think the employee should take the moral high ground and except the consequence for his choosen actions. Because if we expect to break or bend the rules we don’t like and only follow the one we like and expect get away with it. Then we are no better than the elites and leftists. And I do mean the rules and laws set by the populace agreement or private companies. Yes the shooting was in defense of himself and others but we also need to respect a company’s rules as well. The employees chose to carry a firearm on company time and ground; which is against their policy. Right or wrong, that is their rule, and the employee accepted those rules when he agreed to work for Pizza Hut. Personally if I worked for a company with non firearm policy I would consider a deep conceal. But I would understand and take responsibility that I am breaking company rules and its with in the company’s rights the chose to terminate me if I was discovered the be in violation of company policy. You can always replace a job, life not so much.

    28. So many restaurant robberies end bad for the employees. Do some research. If the perp is a 3x loser it is safer for him to eliminate ALL witnesses so he doesn’t end up on the slammer for the rest of his days. Good for the employee for having the audacity to think that his RIGHTS trumped Pizza Hut’s policy on carrying a weapon. He and his fellow employees may be the ones in the box instead of the brainless idiot who is.

    29. As the Russians say, “TUFFKI SHITSKI!” The Pizza Hut employee survived; her son did not. That’s Darwin’s Law at its best.

    30. He was down on his luck so that makes it ok to wave a loaded gun at innocent people that actually have a job and aren’t down on their luck because they’re not busy laying on the couch. This is insane. Pizza Hut should give money to the poor guy that had to take this thugs life. Typical left wing way of thinking. Protect criminals from honest hard working people so they can repeatedly offend. Poor mom, should have let him live in her basement and payed all his bills so he wouldn’t have to rob people. It’s sad someone died that may have been able to be reformed and live a productive life but what about the people on the other end of the gun? Should they have died. Mom would have preferred that I’m sure.

    31. Let me understand this. She is saying a policeman can use deadly force to defend himself, but a citizen of the US who by law has the right to self defense, has no right? When a person walks into a business or a home with a gun, there is no way for you to know if he will use it on your or not. You most certainly do have the right to defend yourself and your property. The man with the gun has the same right as any police officer to defend himself when necessary.

      1. Jerry,
She is arguing that police can use deadly force, but for a different reason than citizens… city councils (employers of police forces) have deep pockets that she can sue to empty! Suing most private citizens (who do not normally carry unlimited liability insurance) would not be as lucrative… see how that works?

    32. This is kind of how Soft Body armor inventor Richard Davis (Second chance Armor) got into that business which his stuff has saved way over 1,200 cops lives. Like in this incident sort of, Davis was a pizza delivery “boy” and went to a house to deliver pizza. He had a suspicion it might be a set up robbery and kept his handgun handy. Three armed guys approached him and he knew they would kill him. So he killed two of them and ruined the other guy’s day for many years. So I guess the bottom line is Ms dumb ass is don’t screw with pizza people and YOU raised your now seriously dead kid just so wronnnnng!

      1. Yes, it is, but it’s always good to hear about a successful defense of self and others. I wasn’t able to find a follow-up story to this. I guess her quest to victimize the victim some more also died (pun intended).

    33. The sad part is Pizza Hut will probably throw some money at the half-wit mom to keep her quiet along with firing the (hero) employee for violating company policy.
