NRA Reacts to Passage of H.R. 1112

Fairfax, VA – -(Ammoland.com)- For the second day in a row, the anti-gun leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives passed an extreme gun control measure designed to discourage law-abiding Americans from exercising a constitutional right.

Chris W. Cox, executive director of the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action, released the following statement in reaction to H.R 1112, the so-called “Charleston Loophole” bill, passing the House by a vote of 228 to 198:

“The anti-gun politicians in the House of Representatives continue to employ the shameful tactic of exploiting tragedies to market gun control that won’t prevent criminals from committing murder. It’s a sham and the Charleston Loophole bill is the perfect example of their dishonesty. The assertion that a supposed 10-day delay would have prevented a crime that took place over 60 days after the initial delay is ridiculous.”

“This legislation would not have prevented the Charleston murders, and even worse, the legislation is so poorly drafted it would put law-abiding citizens who need a firearm for self-defense at risk by trapping them in an endless loop of delays. The NRA will continue to fight for the constitutional right of law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their families without apology.”

Thanks for nothing NRA. They have become totally worthless. Be advised when my membership expires, you will not get one more time from me. There are other organizations that, while may be smaller, have a lot more stones than any of you. Shove your membership shill, Hickok45….

It warms the cockles of my heart to see other NRA members(past and present) willing to voice their frustration and lack of confidence in the current NRA administration. Those that are also willing to defund the NRA until the organization is overhauled and the offending leaders are tarred, feathered, and run out of town on a rail. I block their calls and promptly toss any mailings in the trash unopened. My membership is paid for 4 more years,(yet I don’t understand why I don’t get to vote and refuse to pay more to get the chance) but they will never… Read more »

So, I see a complaints about the problem. What I don’t see are solutions to the problem.

Forget about the NRA helping us they’re only interested in money…. period. All they do is send out letters everyday and ask for more donations in various amounts. Aside from the mailers, the phone calls are almost daily with people asking for a donation to help fight the liberals anti gun agenda. The elite are all in it together and it doesn’t matter what political side of the road you come from. It’s all posturing and the rich Democrats, Republicans, Socialist, liberals, or Independents don’t give a rats ass about the common man or the families. All this rhetoric spewing… Read more »

Please… no more… no more compromises… no more “air”… EITHER you stand to protect the 2A or you don’t
The nra create “problems” so they can “protect your rights” (and get rich doing so)
No fight = no NRA
Go away and vegetate
Whats the next thing we “don’t need” that you will throw to demonrats?
= Membership cancelled – I for one don’t need the NRA

Amen!

“the war on guns”, the words used in the cartoon. “Guns” the word is used by those trying to disarm us, instead of the word “rights”. We should avoid the word “gun”, instead use “arm”, and rights of. This should deflect some misleading comments.

Mr. Cox, Your letter is a halfcocked dry-fire attempt. Call those people what they are, anti-civil right politicians. Do not tell them what they already know. They know they are exploiting tragedies and are not honest. They have no need for people to defend themselves, it does not promote their agenda. Criminal acts do. Avoid the use of the words “law abiding”, they just scuff and giggle when heard. Just the words “rights of Americans”, they will not like those words either, but they will not openly scuff or giggle. They are aware of the hardships their laws cause and… Read more »

Further it would criminalize families or anyone who is anyplace teaching firearm safety!

The NRA is one of our strongest gun rights organization that supports our 2nd amendment, and a voice of those who enjoy the the right to bear arms. With a disorganized group of members that talks down of the NRA, then it certainly ensures that failure is eminent.
