Benchmade Knives Founder, Les de Asis, Passes

Benchmade Knives Founder Les de Asis
Benchmade Knives Founder, Les de Asis

Oregon City, OR – -(AmmoLand.com)- It is with great sadness we share that Les de Asis passed away earlier today.

No words can properly express the sadness of our loss. Benchmade has lost our founder, friend, and visionary who built one of the greatest knife brands in the world.

My father loved all customers, employees, friends, and the storied list of knife makers who influenced him and the world of knives since his humble beginnings in the 70’s. He was especially passionate and proud of the knife and shooting sports industries and always hoped they would thrive well beyond his years.

His personality and character extended far beyond business, creating fun friendships and relationships that brought him tremendous joy day after day. He always cherished interactions with people from all walks of life; from folks in law enforcement and military to those who love hunting and fishing, and also those who simply like to “smoke cigars, bullshit and eat good food” – in his own words!

The values, culture, and essence of our brand are all thanks to his lifelong pursuit of making great knives even better, and providing users with products they can depend on every day, no matter the circumstance.

~ Jon deAsis

Oh well. One less antigunner trying to take my RIGHTS from me. People need to realize how evil it is to take away someones rights. What would you say if this guy promoted human trafficking, what would you say if he worked to restrict religion, or freedom of speech?

People need to realize that people who actively work to take away our RIGHT to defend ourselves are evil and deserve no respect.

Bali-song became Pacific Cutlery became Benchmade. I hope Mr. de Asis rests in peace and that his company is taken over by a more gun friendly management.
May the Lord cause His face to shine upon you, And may He grant you rest and peace eternal in His Presence.”

Who cares? Will never buy another Benchmade knife ,ever. How can a knife maker be anti-gun, but he was.

Sad news. 🙁 . Rest in Peace – ” Almighty Father, source of forgiveness and salvation, grant that our relatives and friends who have passed from this life may, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of all the saints, come to share your Eternal happiness through Christ our Lord. Amen”

With respect to the family, whom I don’t know, sorry but Zero F’s Given. Benchmade and its founder have a long history as a Tory company, supporting antigun politicians, mainly Demorats, and the efforts of law enforcement to seize and destroy guns. I’ll NEVER buy a Benchmade knife if my life depended on it and I hope they go out of business. Lots of other knife companies out there that understand that knife rights are inextricably linked to gun rights, know that there is a huge overlap between gun buyers and knife buyers, and that dumping on our 2A rights… Read more »

Yes, he’s 100% correct, Benchmade is very antigun. You dont get any more antigun than giving big bucks to Demorat gun-grabbers, and helping redcoats, er, cops destroy the guns they seize. Here’s the Local PD crowing about how Benchmade helped them destroy guns –

Here’s the stats on their Demorat political giving. As you can see, after 2012 they’ve given exclusively to Demorats. You be the judge.

Here’s a good article that covered the flap back at the time.

– No problem, this is why The Revelator goes on so often about facts and evidence. If we share knowledge, we can avoid confusion, misunderstandings, and false impressions.

@wjd – I look at it like this, we can’t keep up with 100% of what’s going on in the world, in the USA, 100% of the time. A goodly portion of it is gonna slip by even the worst news junkies among us (like me). What chaps me is Little Quisling Harold rubbing everyone’s nose in it like “See what slipped past you? I have a whole series of things that I presume you didn’t know about!” But don’t get me wrong, I appreciate a good ICYMI article, especially if it has profound implications! Anyhoo, now you know about… Read more »

Build 100 bridges and they will call you a bridge builder. Suck one cock, and you know the rest…having your knife company openly destroy guns, in a symbolic anti #2A spectacle…look at the Eurotrash, who do they come after after all the guns are gone?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the “prohibited persons list” that you speak of? What are they prohibited by or from?

Grigori, I’m going to have to assume that you’ve never bought a gun in this country. When you do that you have to fill out a form 4473. On it is a section that you have to answer yes or no to. If you answer any parts wrong, you aren’t allowed to buy a gun. Here is the pertinent part.
