CHICAGO – -(AmmoLand.com)- A man has been sentenced to a year in federal prison for straw purchasing handguns in the Chicago suburbs.

On four occasions in 2019 and 2020, ISMAEL SENE purchased a total of seven handguns from licensed firearms dealers in the Chicago suburbs of Oak Lawn and Merrionette Park. In one of the transactions, Sene falsely certified on federal forms that he was the actual buyer.

In reality, Sene purchased at least one of those guns on behalf of an individual whom Sene had reason to believe was a convicted felon who was prohibited by federal law from purchasing or possessing a firearm. In addition, Sene in each transaction falsely told the firearms dealer that he was not an unlawful drug user, when, in fact, Sene regularly used marijuana, which was a violation of federal law.

Sene, 25, of Chicago, pleaded guilty in June to making false statements in connection with the acquisition of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Robert W. Gettleman on Oct. 29, 2021, sentenced Sene to a year and a day in federal prison.

The sentence was announced by John R. Lausch, Jr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; and Kristen de Tineo, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Division of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The Chicago Police Department provided valuable assistance.

“Straw purchasers, like the defendant, perpetuate the cycle of violence that is terrorizing this city,” Assistant U.S. Attorney James P. Durkin argued in the government’s sentencing memorandum.

“The tools that drive that mayhem are firearms in the hands of dangerous people who are often legally prohibited from purchasing and possessing them.”

Wow! what is that? 12 felons total (since 1994) that have been sentenced to jail time for violation of the background check law?? That sure is a tough law!

Careful what you wish for. ‘Felon’ is what a legislature says. NRA-NSSF want ‘all existing gun laws fully enforced, 0 tolerance. Period.’

A straw purchaser is one who buys a gun for someone who could not buy or own it legally. It is a violation of federal law, regardless of the reason the other person could not make their own purchase. Feel free to change the law.

Oh no, because marijuana makes people violent. Wait, no, no it doesn’t. That’s just the federal government usurping state police power. Again.

More BATF bullsh*t using a regulation that they created through the unconstitutional method of Administrative Law to convict someone of what should have been their Constitutional right. The BATF lies and plants evidence and uses their power to intimidate and manipulate to get “convictions” to try and make themselves look good to Congress to obtain funding at the public’s expense. Never forget Waco, Ruby Ridge and Fast and Furious as 3 examples of how the BATF conducts business. There are thousands of more examples of their abuses and corruption out there that never made the fake news.

If Ismael Sene got a year in prison for his crime, why hasn’t Hunter Biden been charged he was an active drug user when he bought his handgun.
Was the charge more for the straw purchase or smoking dope.
