U.S.A. -(AmmoLand.com)- The Blaser R8 .22 LR Conversion Kit has won a prestigious Gray’s Best award in the shooting category.

Lauded for its speed, accuracy, and versatility, the modular straight-pull R8 bolt-action rifle is in a league of its own. Hunters who own this expertly crafted, lightning-fast rifle can buy barrels in different calibers with the corresponding bolt heads and magazine inserts and have multiple rifles in one. With the introduction of the .22 LR Conversion Kit, hunters can now shoot endless practice rounds of .22 rimfire before switching to their preferred hunting caliber and experiencing the same trigger pull with each.

Terry Wieland of Gray’s Sporting Journal had this to say in the magazine’s 2022 Expeditions and Guides Annual:

“There is no higher-quality production rifle for sale today than Blaser’s straight-pull R8. One of its great selling points is that you can buy barrels in different calibers, with appropriate bolt heads and magazine boxes, and have several rifles in one. Now Blaser has gone one step further with a .22 Long Rifle barrel for the R8. Have an R8 in .500 Jeffery for whacking dinosaurs? Now you can turn that thumper into a squirrel rifle for off-season practice. That’s a combination that, to the best of my knowledge, has never been seen before. The R8 is available in an astonishing number of calibers – 47 by my count – and if you multiply those by the various grades of engraving and stock wood, as well as some truly innovative composite stock designs, you have a single rifle that could keep you fascinated for a lifetime.”

The Blaser R8 is a favorite not only of hunters who travel the world in pursuit of game but also of those who hunt close to home and simply prefer the same feel and handling to their rifle, regardless of caliber chosen for a specific species.

“We are thrilled and honored to win a Gray’s Best award and appreciate Gray’s Sporting Journal’s recognition of the innovation behind the Blaser R8 rifle and .22 LR Conversion Kit,” said Jason Evans, CEO, Blaser Group. “The R8 continues to grow in popularity, and you will see more exciting R8 introductions in the weeks to come.”

For those rich enough to afford it, and foolish enough to actually pony up the cash for it, Blaser has just allowed their customers to created the world’s most expensive .22 that likely won’t shoot any better than any of Ruger’s .22 rifles. A fool and his money…

Only $1498 for the rimfire conversion kit for the basic R8 Ultimate Rifle which comes in at $4,519. Ouch. I am sure it is a great gun, but that is a lot of $$$.
