Exploiting Georgia Tragedy, Biden Trots Out Stale Gun Control Agenda

President Joe Biden moved swiftly to exploit the Apalachee High School shooting to push his same tired gun control agenda. Joe Biden IMG whitehouse-gov

While some confusion and erroneous reports continued in the immediate aftermath of the deadly school shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, President Joe Biden was quick to capitalize on the tragedy by calling for a ban on so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity magazines,” and repeal of the federal law protecting gun manufacturers from junk lawsuits.

It’s the same wish list Biden has had since he ran for office in 2020. The White House issued a statement even before it was clear what kind of gun was used, the identity of the suspect—reported to be 14 years old and a student at the school—or any motive, but still the president offered his “one-size-fits-all” gun control agenda which includes “universal background checks” (as if that would stop a 14-year-old from illegally bringing a gun to school), a “safe storage” requirement (however that is defined), and other so-called “common-sense gun safety legislation” which he wants Republicans to help pass.

Biden also touted creation of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, though he offered no explanation why that office wasn’t able to prevent Wednesday’s school shooting.

Early press coverage of the shooting once again displayed the media’s penchant for making mistakes early in any investigation. The worst example was a report the shooter had been “neutralized,” which was quickly refuted by the authorities, who had taken the suspect into custody. However, as the hours passed, the reporting improved.

According to WCVB News, at least nine people had been transported to hospitals for treatment of injuries, but the station was careful not to describe what those injuries might be.

Anti-gun Democrat Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock went quickly to social media, posting on X, “Until we center the people and start a serious, bipartisan conversation in Washington & state capitols across the country to advance popular, commonsense gun safety reforms, the sad truth is it’s only a matter of time before this kind of tragedy comes knocking on your door.”

Like Biden and others, Warnock does not define “commonsense gun safety reforms.”

CNN noted that Vice President Kamala Harris, running hard to succeed Biden in the Oval Office, commented about the shooting at a campaign stop in New Hampshire. She reportedly kept her remarks generic, declaring outrage that “every day in our country, in the United States of America, that parents have to send their children to school worried about whether or not their child will come home alive…

We’ve got to stop it…it doesn’t have to be this way.”

Nothing specific about policy, just the verbal hand-wringing. But Harris has a gun control track record, including calls for “mandatory buy-back” of firearms, a program which translates to “compensated confiscation,” according to critics.

That may not be good enough to keep Harris out of political trouble as the presidential campaign heats up.  A new Rasmussen poll released Wednesday shows 32 percent of likely voters “say Harris deserves a lot of blame for the failure of Biden’s policies, while 23% see her as deserving some of the blame.”

On the other hand, 24 percent think she deserves “a lot of credit” for Biden’s policy successes, and 33 percent say she deserves at least some credit.

Harris will be linked to Biden no matter what, despite efforts by her campaign and the Democratic party and establishment media to make it appear she is fresh and wasn’t really part of the past 3 ½ years.

Coincidentally, in July, the FBI launched a public education campaign about how to look for signs someone might be planning a mass shooting, according to the Banking Journal. The agency even launched a website on the subject.

None of this overshadows Biden’s effort to capitalize on the shooting as his tenure as president enters its final months. His “solutions” may not match the circumstances of the Apalachee High School shooting, but that has never stopped an anti-gun politician from pushing his or her gun control agenda in the past. Nevertheless, he is still offering the same agenda he championed four years ago, which translates to no meaningful, fresh ideas that might have prevented the Apalachee tragedy.

It is unknown at this writing whether there were any armed teachers at the school, although Georgia does allow the practice, according to this report from WMAZ News in 2023.

Wow, didn’t even make it 24 hours before he started bitching.
Just like in this article, what gun did he use?

Trump 2024, for a safer armed America.

Oldman

They are? What I heard two hours after the first reports came out, was that they had a lot of shotgun injuries.

Was that caused by my bad hearing? Probably?

Cappy

It’s always “Blame the Gun, Not the Shooter” with this progressive ilk. Same tired song, over and over again. Maybe if we started going after the parents of these destructive little cretins things would change. Maybe if school counselors actually counseled some of the mental misfits we have being mainstreamed in our schools things would change. Maybe if we got back to corporal punishment the first time Little Johnny has an “anger issue” instead of drugging the little sh!t to mask his antisocial tendencies. Maybe, just maybe things would change. It seemed to work pretty well throughout history. Might just… Read more »

If the parents would beat their kids at home when they did something wrong instead of standing them in the corner for three minutes, and if the teachers and the counselors and the coaches and the principles had their boards ready like when we were in school when you did something wrong, you got your butt busted then when you got home, your dad busted your butt again This needs to be brought back. The snowflake parents need to be held accountable. You can’t hardly blame the kids because they’re acting just like their parents.

DunRanull

“Bust busting” can lead to jail time and conviction of felony assault and abuse.

Progressives deny Original Sin. They have to blame the inanimate because they have to ignore the spiritual.

This clown shoe gave 40+ billion dollars worth of weapons to the taliban making him one of, if not the, biggest arms dealers in the world. But he’s gonna lecture me on firearms? I laugh in your general direction pedo joe.

Common Sense Gun Control was founded by the Founders and Framers of the Constitution. Common sense is defined in the Second Amendment. Not by the Marxocrats whose end game is the slaughter us.

DDS

Common sense in the face of, and as an antidote for, government overreach is nothing new.

Where are the armed school staff? Someone with said resources could have stopped this! Even if it meant the 14 yr old was shot!

HLB

I find it hard to imagine working at a school with out carrying my weapon. There should have been at least one weapon carrier in each hall way, no more than 10 seconds from the shooter. Please don’t tell me that this is the best that we can be.

HLB

Silver Creek

Didn’t the school have metal detectors in the building?

PMinFl

Reported now that the “suspect” immediately dropped his weapon at the first appearance of a school resource officer. The coward was afraid of someone who could fight back. Also the heros from the FBI acknowledge that this “suspect” was “on their radar” for over a year, but the family moved and the braintrust lost track of the juvenile already known for threatening a mass shooting. Another failure.

MB

The only things that would have prevented this are discipline and parental responsibilities. Someone should have put a size 10 in this 14 year old’s butt once in a while.

California Uber Alles

No one mentioned it yet, but I for one am super happy to have been informed that like all the others, he was “known to LE/FBI.”

good thing, or someone could have got hurt!

How many others, out there, known to LE/FBI?

Anybody that posts here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contrast this reaction and demand for more radical gun control with the tragic deaths of two hockey players, Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in New Jersey a week ago. A drunk driver who admitted that he had consumed 5 or 6 beers before getting behind the wheel, was arrested for DUI in the fatal accident. It’s strange that police didn’t blame the Jeep he was driving, like gun control advocates blame the firearm every time someone is killed by a criminal with a gun. Looking through the lies and fraud that is the demand for more radical gun control, one can… Read more »

The Biden Harris FBI once again failed our children and country. They had the shooter on a watch list months before this tragedy. Also, known to school officials! Why did they let him back in school? This kind of story is getting pretty old. But the response by the Democrat Marxixt is the same also. When will rid ourselves of these useless political vermin?

Dubi Loo

Ignoring the root causation while dancing in the blood of school children. Freaking disgusting.

Biden calling for his AW ban even before the type of weapon used was released.

On a 14 year old? And where would he get money to purchase a gun? Selling drugs?

Rockman1977

Gun control to prevent mass shootings is just another thinly disguised effort to disarm the 99% of citizens that respect law and order and are also responsible gun owners. The sooner government addresses the mental derangement that has been allowed to infest and infect our institutions of learning, the sooner we can get to the root of the real problems.

Silver Creek

A friend said how many of today’s young women have taken street drugs when pregnant?
No wonder their kids are nuts.

StLPro2A

There’s the tell…”commonsense” and “gun safety” in the same sentence….ya’ know it’s anti-Second Amendment bull shit.

“Killing is a matter of will, not means. You cannot control the intent by passing laws about the means.” – the late Col Jeff Cooper commented in 1958, Libturds like Warnock/SloDimJoey/et el are too stupid, anti-rights driven to comprehend.

Coelacanth

The Democrats choose virtue signaling and gaslighting as more important than protecting the children. Sigh!

It is only common sense for a 14 year old to go get a background check

I sent this to my federal senators and representative; all 3 Republicans.. You are welcome to edit appropriately (I don’t think all of you are “old codgers”) and send to your congress critters. Better yet, draft your own. Either way, let them know.  Because I have earned the esteemed title of “Old Codger” it is my right to honestly say that school shootings, like has happened today, were non-existent when I was young. And it only took minutes for Democrats to begin calling for a litany of additional new gun laws, none of which existed 60 years ago when far fewer gun… Read more »

Parents home school your children.
Do not send your children to cesspools called public schools.
The public schools are full of groomers, drag queens and pedophiles who want to molest and abuse your children.
The far leftist politicians want drag queens in elementary schools to brainwash your children to hate America and to hate their parents.
Parents, keep your children safe and secure, home school your children!

DunRanull

Home schooling isn’t the answer- most parents are unable to teach a lot of subject matter. Better answers are private schooling by accredited schools and teachers; or follow the school boards and watch what they do, and elect wiser and better candidates to the school boards.

Oldman

You have hit the nail on the head. The answer of course, is to erase ‘public’ schools and to do Trump’s proposal in having school choice. Take away the funds for public schools and somehow have the money from that follow each child and let the parents make the choice of where they want the child to get educated. We need schools to go back to when we were students and have teachers interested in teaching rather than following political discourse.

I’m 75 years old. I don’t know how that happened, but it did. Kinda snuck up on me like the old guy that sneaks between me and a mirror.

Anyway, all my jokes are old. Kinda fits. Old guy, old jokes!

Joe Biden is old. All of his ideas are old.

The main difference between me and Joe Biden is, I know I have no business being President of the United States.

GomeznSA

I’m sure I ain’t the only one that finds it ‘interesting’ that the gun banners NEVER demand more ‘common sense’ gun control laws/rules/regulations when a bunch of gang bangers shoot up a neighborhood and their crews. Seems like that demand only crops up when an atrocity such as this one in Georgia occurs.

J.galt

Don’t worry, the fbi is aware of the next 10 mass shooters

Apparently, the mother called the school to warn them of the threat. I’ve seen news reports that show she called minutes and up to an hour and a half before the shooting. What’s worse, he was known to FBI a year ago.

What an odd concept … instead of trying to outlaw guns … hold the criminals responsible for their actions. Alas … that is what we citizens need to do, hold the criminal politicians accountable for their actions, which have nothing to do with getting rid of firearms to save lives. Their reasons for getting rid of firearms is to Control the people and take lives at the hands of the government. RESIST!

1700sThe earliest known United States shooting to happen on school property was the Pontiac’s Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape American Indian entered the schoolhouse near present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children (reports vary). Only two children survived.

This sad event lives lost children dead, Biden is no longer in control of his own thoughts this president has never been a leader. Bidens whole career has been a history of following the leaders in his party. Harris will never lead as she never has , while incapable of understanding the dangers ahead for our country.
