RIO RANCHO, N.M. — In a decisive act of self-defense, a Rio Rancho homeowner protected his family from a violent home invasion late Saturday night. The incident occurred at their residence on the 1500 block of 12th Street Southeast, where a suspect forcefully entered the home by kicking down the front door.
The Rio Rancho Police Department reports that the intruder, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was met with force by the homeowner, who was legally armed.
The homeowner, alert to the disturbance, confronted the intruder and shot him once in the torso, effectively stopping the threat. The suspect was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
At the time of the invasion, the homeowner, along with two other adults and three children, were asleep. Their peaceful night was abruptly disrupted by the sound of their home being forcibly entered, prompting an immediate and necessary response to protect the household.
The police responded quickly to the scene and have since released the homeowner, who cooperated fully with law enforcement officials. The investigation remains active, and findings will be forwarded to the district attorney to review the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

As a NM resident this concerns me. Odds are extremely high the criminal had a lengthy criminal record as our Demoncrap leadership has a severe problem punishing criminals thus giving NM one of the highest crime rates in the country. The vast majority of sheriffs support our gun rights while typically the “elected” officials of the socialist party do everything they can to make the family targeted the losers.
