Elections Have Consequences – Is That the Sound of Second Amendment Freedom I Hear?

President Trump’s Executive Order “Protecting Second Amendment Rights.”

Years ago, in an unforgettable display of cynicism and arrogance, then-newly elected President Barack Hussein Obama told us that “elections have consequences” as he began the process of attempting to “fundamentally transform America” and dismantle the Second Amendment.

Although he probably has not done so, newly elected President Donald J. Trump could probably say the same thing, and this time, we would all wholeheartedly agree.

On Friday, February 7, 2025, President Trump made history with another of his many Executive Orders, this one titled: “PROTECTING SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS.”

This historic, first-of-its-kind Presidential Executive Order begins by stating its “Purpose” as follows:

“The Second Amendment is an indispensable safeguard of security and liberty. It has preserved the right of the American people to protect ourselves, our families, and our freedoms since the founding of our great nation. Because it is foundational to maintaining all other rights held by Americans, the right to keep and bear arms must not be infringed.”

In the next section of his historic Executive Order, President Trump ordered that:

“Within 30 days of the date of this order, the Attorney General shall examine all orders, regulations, guidance, plans, international agreements and other actions of executive departments and agencies to assess any ongoing infringements of the Second Amendment rights of our citizens and present a proposed plan of action to the President, through the Domestic Policy Advisor, to protect the Second Amendment rights of all Americans.”

Within that same section of the Executive Order President Trump instructed the Attorney General to “review, at a minimum” (emphasis added) the following:

“(i) All Presidential and agencies’ actions from January 2021 through January 2025 that purport to promote safety but may have impinged on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens;
(ii) Rules promulgated by the Department of Justice, including by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, from January 2021 through January 2025 pertaining to firearms and/or Federal firearms licensees;
(iii) Agencies’ plans, orders, and actions regarding the so-called ‘enhanced regulatory enforcement policy’ pertaining to firearms and/or Federal Firearms licensees;
(iv) Reports and related documents issued by the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention;
(v) The positions taken by the United States in any and all ongoing and potential litigation that affects or could affect the ability of Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights;
(vi) Agencies’ classifications of firearms and ammunition; and
(vii) The processing of applications to make, manufacture, transfer, or export firearms.”

This historic Executive Order continues by instructing the Attorney General to work with his Domestic Policy Advisor to implement the resulting plan.

Yes! Elections have consequences.

Note that the dates contained within the Order are the beginning and ending dates of President Biden’s reign of terror perpetrated against America’s law-abiding gun owners, dealers and manufacturers. It is obvious that the President is well aware of the harm done to our Second Amendment freedoms by America’s worst president and his cynical and despotic anti-gun cronies.

Yes! Change is in the wind.

Note item (v), above. This means that all of those cases currently pending in the courts are now up for review in terms of the positions taken and espoused by the United States Department of Justice. This could have a tremendous impact throughout the United States and upon the newly evolving Second Amendment jurisprudence.

Notice items (i) and (iv). These two items seem to be aimed at the lies, false premises, actions, conduct, and policies of the Deep State swamp creatures who made their homes within Biden’s White House staff and various Executive Branch agencies. Also, please note that the balance of the items listed above seems to be aimed directly at the Biden Administration’s sins against the Second Amendment community, mostly committed through the BATFE and various rabidly anti-gun Biden-appointed U.S. Attorneys.

Finally, it is important to note that President Trump included “international agreements” among the various items to be reviewed by the Attorney General.

Biden & Company were far too willing to sell out the American people and our Second Amendment rights in favor of European and other foreign interests by way of treaty and other “international agreements.”

The Attorney General’s report and proposed plan of action are due within 30 days. Given the overall tone and tenor of President Trump’s Executive Order to the Attorney General, I fully expect many of the anti-gun swamp creatures burrowed deep within the Deep State will soon be crying their dismay to the legacy press almost immediately. Expect their sad song of disbelief and woe to be repeated continuously among some of the usual culprits in the far-left, gun-hating press.

Yes, Mr. President! Elections do matter.

Only time will tell what, if anything, constructive and meaningful will come of this new Executive Order.

But, YES! I do believe that just might be the first strains of the sound of Second Amendment Freedom I hear coming from the Oval Office – at long last.

All this whining about Trump is anti-gun, he hired Pam Bondi. Lions and tigers and bears Oh My!!! What new anti-gun law has Trump made since in office. What new anti-gun rule or law has Pam made or enforced while in office? A very few of us here has said give him a chance. So far everything that he and his appointees has done shows that you were wrong! More will happen for the good, just give it time and keep a positive outlook and attitude. We have enough negativism with the left and all their fake news. Christ is… Read more »

Things are looking up, long time in coming.

I’ve yet to hear anyone criticize the dates that limit the action to encompass those of the Biden administration. I believe the dates should have been left out. There was undoubtedly a sense of retribution involved but all rules and actions should be on the table irrespective of their pedigree.

This just in: DOGE goes into IRS and now the IRS is preparing to fire thousands of probationary employees!

Nice EO.

Point #vii missed something. Processing of applications to make, manufacture, transfer or export should have also addressed import. Possibly import could be covered by ‘transfer’ but I’d like to see it addressed directly. I’m OK with including firearms under broad sanctions applied to countries, but not arms specific import bans. Most arms import bans seem targeted at denying access to Americans rather than inflicting financial pressure on the other country.

John Sigler, the current NRA BoD, past NRA president, and running for re-election to the NRA BoD…
After all the corruption you’ve over seen, after voting for decades to renew WLP’s contract, after over seeing Woody Phillips, Millie Harlow, Ack Mac, Brewer…
And after all the negotiating rights away you’ve over seen- it wasn’t that long ago NRA was promoting red flag laws and bump stock bans…
Oh boy, the list goes on and on and on.
You sir should be doing time behind bars.
You’re unfit to serve in any organization.

Sigler’s a hack. Naturally, he won’t look critically at the EO, which itself does nothing concrete other than study the problem. I’m glad he included the caveat at the end of his article, re: “Only time will tell what…” but it was a limited caveat at best, coming from a guy who lived in/through the NRA corruption.

I have yet to see anything more stupid and designed to fail than putting your rights and trust in governments hands. Have Americans gone mad or are they just stupid? They are your rights and it is your duty and responsibility to defend, protect and if you must enforce your rights. The founders would have hung you from a tree as traitors. Wake up and accept responsibility for your rights and protect them. Why do you need to be told to protect your property? Why do you have such ignorant and cowardly leaders who cannot figure out trusting a government,… Read more »
