Recently, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law three new gun control measures.
Number one is S.745/A.439, which expands the use of Merchant Category Codes for firearm retailers who sell guns and ammo. This is just another way to track sales of New York gun owners for the purpose of harassing them. Hochul claims that this will better inform state authorities of who is “stockpiling” ammunition. Of course, “stockpiling” is never defined in actual numbers, and we can probably assume that NY’s definition is far less than what is needed for an hour or two at the range. This number will be determined by New York State authorities and is most likely undetermined for political purposes.
New York State has already implemented its firearm background check system in-house, and it has added that background check requirement to ammunition as well. This information is collected by the New York State Police subverting the NICS system. The protection from being put on a gun registry has always been afforded to gun owners at the national level, but since Hochul took this process to the state level, you can bet a gun registry is being created at the State Police Department. Now, as an added bonus, she and her henchman will be monitoring any credit card sales that are gun or ammo-related. But of course, this is for your own protection.
Number two is S.744/A.436. This adds the phrase “pistol converters” to the list of so-called “rapid-fire modification devices.” These devices are already banned by the State. The existing statute covers any item that is “designed to accelerate the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm, rifle or shotgun,” but apparently, every time the gun-grabbers from New York State get a new idea in their heads, they must add it to the legislation for the purpose of continuing to tighten the long list of gun-restrictions.
Number 3 is particularly interesting because it speaks to the necessity of the New York gun grabbers to play the propaganda game. S.743/A.437 now changes the Surgeon General-style warning that gun dealers must post at their stores. The law previously mandated that the following signage be posted at all firearm retailers:
“Access to a weapon or firearm in the home significantly increases the risk of suicide, death during domestic disputes, and/or unintentional deaths to children, household members and others. If you or a loved one is experiencing distress and/or depression, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.”
Of course, this requirement was solely for the purpose of connecting guns to violence and suicide in the minds of American citizens. We all know that guns are used at least a million times more often to prevent violence and save lives than they are to take lives. Several studies have proven this, which is why the political left needs to counteract the truth with propaganda like this.
This new signage requirement is for the purpose of conditioning the public into believing things that simply aren’t true. The more propaganda that is fed into the thought process of human beings, the easier it is to get them to support unconstitutional legislation. Posting signs that declare untruths is a blatant attempt at manipulating the thought process of anyone who reads it. This strategy also works well for the purpose of bolstering future gun legislation.
Just like Tipper Gore put warning signs on music in the 80s and the Surgeon General put warning signs on packages of cigarettes, this too will further demonize guns just like the tactic was used to demonize other products in the past.
But again, the New York gun grabbers thought they could improve the effectiveness of their propaganda. Someone in the New York State legislature had the bright idea that they could make this anti-gun propaganda requirement even more powerful than it already was by implementing S.743/A.437, which replaces the word “WEAPON” in the mandated warning with the words “RIFLE, SHOTGUN” because you can never have too much propaganda when trying to demonize guns and scare people. It appears that they recognized the word “weapon” would be associated with knives and other items. They couldn’t have that because they needed the focus to be specifically on guns.
It’s very important to understand the mindset of these gun grabbers. They not only want to have access to your firearms for the purpose of confiscation and disarming you, but everything they do also plays into the overall anti-gun narrative and how it is inflicted upon society. The conditioning of people to fear and reject firearms is a big part of their mission. It’s a strategy that prepares the next generation of voters to support unconstitutional gun legislation.
Anytime they can inject anti-gun rhetoric or propaganda into your thought process, it’s done with the hopes of turning those ideas into foundational beliefs and that’s always a win for them. Remember, they’re playing a long game. The goal of New York Democrats is that your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be completely subservient and compliant. Using legislation to make a point and further, the narrative is an important piece in the gun-control puzzle.

Clown Hochul and the lost state of New York are irrelevant to me and as far as I am concerned could be given to Canada and I would not care .
Don’t you think Kathy would look much better if she had a teabag on her chin ?
Dealers need to put a larger separate sign up just above the required sign that says something to the effect of “Dictators require warnings and information such as that below:” and add a few more quotes and facts from dictators in other states and countries. One such that comes to mind is (need to verify the year); In 1936 Hitler banned civilian ownership of guns and the world was a safer place.
Just add signage from dictators to show what its actual purpose is.
Is NY going to require that sign to be posted wherever knives, axes, hammers and cars are sold?
NY gun shops need to add pamphlets explaining the number of times gun owners stop crime, protect loved ones versus the lower incidences of same by police. Police are not First Responders…..citizen gun owners are. When do we begin getting First Responder Discounts???
So much for the “Supreme” court and Bruen…
