From Anti-Gun Powerbroker to Prisoner: Bob Menendez Begins 11-Year Sentence, While His Son Protests ICE ~ VIDEO

Once one of the most powerful Democrats in America, former U.S. Senator Bob Menendez reported to federal prison on Tuesday morning, marking the fall of a longtime anti-gun figure whose corruption conviction has made him the newest “prohibited person” under the very laws he once championed.

Menendez, 71, surrendered to the Federal Correctional Institution in Schuylkill, Pennsylvania—an 11-year sentence now underway for a sprawling bribery and foreign agent scheme so outrageous that prosecutors called it “the most serious corruption case in the history of the Republic.” A jury found him guilty of accepting gold bars, hundreds of thousands in cash, and even a luxury car in exchange for political favors, including funneling military aid to Egypt and protecting New Jersey cronies from criminal prosecution.

Once hailed as a “champion of gun control,” Menendez used his Senate seat to push for bans on so-called “assault weapons,” high-capacity magazines, and even advocated jailing otherwise law-abiding citizens who crossed into New Jersey with out-of-state concealed carry permits.

Now, thanks to his conviction, he’s a felon—barred for life from owning the very firearms he tried to strip from American citizens.

The Hypocrisy of Power

For decades, Menendez cloaked his corruption behind a polished political resume. He styled himself a patriot, claiming his Cuban refugee background made him uniquely suited to shape foreign policy. But behind the scenes, federal agents uncovered a different story—one of cash-stuffed envelopes, secret meetings with Egyptian officials, and brazen abuse of power.

Menendez’s conviction is a textbook example of political double standards. He wasn’t just accepting bribes; he was actively working on behalf of a foreign government while sitting atop the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. And yet, this is the same man who once declared that “common-sense gun laws save lives” while plotting in the background to sell out national interests for personal gain.

Perhaps most ironically, Menendez had previously declared that anyone caught violating New Jersey’s strict gun laws—like lawful concealed carriers from neighboring states—should be “thrown into prison for five years.” Now he’s facing more than double that term himself.

The Rotten Tree Bears Rotten Fruit

The Menendez saga doesn’t stop with the Senator. His son, Rep. Robert Menendez Jr., recently made headlines of his own—not for legislative achievements, but for getting arrested alongside other far-left New Jersey Democrats during a chaotic protest at a federal ICE detention facility.

The younger Menendez, who has parroted the same gun-control talking points as his father and blamed American gun owners for cartel violence, now stands accused of disrupting federal law enforcement operations aimed at detaining violent criminals, including MS-13 members and international fugitives.

It’s hard not to notice the pattern: while the elder Menendez took bribes and betrayed the country, his son storms secure facilities and sides with criminal aliens over federal agents. The phrase “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” has never felt more appropriate.

A Pattern Among Gun-Control Politicians

Bob Menendez joins a long list of anti-gun Democrats whose hypocrisy has landed them behind bars. From California State Senator Leland Yee—caught running illegal guns while pushing disarmament laws—to Chicago’s Ed Burke, convicted of racketeering while backing strict gun bans, the record is clear: many of the loudest voices for gun control are themselves criminals.

They scream about “gun safety” and “ending gun violence,” but in practice, they protect foreign agents, storm federal buildings, and enrich themselves through backroom deals—all while attacking the rights of lawful Americans.

Final Thoughts

As Bob Menendez trades his Senate office for a bunk bed in federal prison, gun owners should take note. This wasn’t just a political fall—it’s the collapse of a man who spent his career vilifying your rights while enriching himself with dirty money and foreign influence.

And with his son following in his activist footsteps, it seems the Menendez dynasty is determined to cling to relevance, even if it means crossing legal lines in the name of political theater.

Their story serves as a powerful reminder: never trust a politician who wants to take your guns “for your safety” while pocketing gold bars behind your back.

Cynical

Why do we the people have to continue to support him in Federal prison? There is president for naturalized citizens acting as unregistered foreign agents to be stripped of their citizenship and deported. Send him back to Cuba

Exigent

So while Menendez and son worked constantly to steal away the 2A Rights of law-abiding people and families to protect themselves from armed criminals… …at the very same time they worked to protect and increase the population of armed criminals in the United States in gangs such as the hyper-violent MS-13 and fugitive (and armed) felons being also protected by anti-ICE and anti-LEO activist judges… The criminals are the very population for which lawful people need the counterbalance of firearms brought to the table which at the least gives them a chance in real-time to fend off, delay, or even… Read more »

This article needs serious editing. “Standard capacity magazines”, NOT “high-capacity magazines” (unless also in quotes like “assault weapons” was.) “Illegally running guns”, NOT “running illegal guns”. There is no such thing as an illegal gun.
