Glocks
Most Glock pistols, except “slimline” models (42, 43, 43X, 48) will go out of production sometime in November of this year, 2025. Most notably the G19/17!
Not many details forthcoming, but the issue is, of course, the ecumenical (and illegal) aftermarket “Switch,” which can convert some Glocks (and doubtless Glock clones also) to full-auto.
I’ve no doubt Glock is currently working feverishly to redesign its pistols so as to make their conversion to full-auto more difficult.
As noted above, I’m sure the “Switch issue” is also applicable to any number of other striker-fired pistols. But, apparently no one has yet bothered to design a “Switch” for any, except the Glock.
As expected, there is currently a rush at retailers to buy-up all remaining “conventional” Glocks, as current-production G17/19s handguns are well-vetted, known to be reliable, and no one knows what the “new” Glocks will look like.
In the interim, “conventional” G19/17s will be hard to find!

Then, once the “new design” is “approved” (likely by bureaucrats who know nothing about guns, nor about self-defense, and couldn’t care less), re-establishing trust and confidence will take a while!
So, there is much concern.
When politicians, bureaucrats, lawyers, and other non-experts attempt to influence firearms design, we end up with, for example, maladroit “CA-legal” and “NY-legal” M4s!
“Conventional” Glocks are based on a sound design that has been around for decades and has earned the trust and confidence of Operators worldwide.
For now, the prudent will be hanging-on to their “conventional” Glocks, Shadow Systems, Daggers, et al!

Why should anyone be concerned about “Glock switches”? How about being concerned with what someone DOES with a Glock or any other weapon. How about we all learn about the power of the Jury and refuse to convict anyone of any “crime” where there is no victim involved? Never mind that a 12 gauge with buckshot can deliver more pills faster than a switched Glock can.
In other news today California has ordered Toyota to stop making truck beds out of steel and aluminum and has restricted them to cardboard truck best. The reason is islamic terrorists and insurgents might mount a heavy machine gun on metal truck beds. Ooooopppppps, sorry. Islamophobic.
Looks like all those “LE Trade-Ins” are finally gonna move at a premium. Meh… hammer fired, cocked and locked is still my preference.
So the author thinks Glocks are “Infinitely Reliable?” Whenever I had my petite and elderly mother shoot my Glock 17, it malfunctioned. I then found out it was EXTREMELY sensitive to so called “limp wrist syndrome” malfunctions, and found I could make it jam on demand simply by holding it loosely. Operator error? Perhaps. But imagine you NEED the gun to work – and you’ve already been injured. IMHO, using terms like “Infinitely Reliable” really undermines my confidence in the writer’s supposed creds.
Glock has lost their minds; they should have told ’em to cluck-off.
Wow , not one line about switches being covered by the 2nd amendment.
“I’ve no doubt Glock is currently working feverishly to redesign its pistols so as to make their conversion to full-auto more difficult.”There are two issues here. First, why is Glock caving just to appease California.Second, Glock was designed to be completely reliable. But, now, Glock will be redesigning their guns, not with the purpose to be even more reliable, but to make the evil “glock switch” not work. That is a recipe for disaster. Glock is currently known for being extremely reliable, but, they were not when first issued. There were ejection failures, Magazine snags, Sticking Triggers, Guide rod misalignment, and… Read more »
Glock rolled the state of California. First, this has been in the works for 2-3 years. Second, every Glock in California is still legal in California. Third, Glock will have an entire line of new guns that will all make it in the California handgun roster. So nobody will be trading theirs or selling them, because they don’t have to, but they will be purchasing a lot of new ones. Game, Set, and Match to Glock.
