What are the chances?
In TX this week, a man out for a brisk walk on a local hiking trail was precipitously attacked and killed by three pit bulls. Over the next few minutes, he was torn to pieces and died at the scene from his injuries. His mutilated, lifeless body was only discovered after several hours.
Minutes later, these same three dogs attacked a woman in her own driveway as she was entering her car, along with her two-year-old child. Both the woman and her child were severely injured, but the woman was able to “discourage” the dogs by striking them with a folding chair. The dogs eventually relented and left.
Several neighbors can be seen on a video of the second attack, but they take no action to aid the woman.
All three dogs were owned by a neighbor, but had “escaped his yard”
The subsequent local TV news report of the incidents featured some “expert advice” with regard to such dog attacks. Viewers were advised to drop to the ground and “curl-up in a ball” [you mean like the person who was killed likely did?] Good thing the woman in this case did not take that “expert” recommendation!
Media anchors arrogantly added that such attacks are “very unusual,” another way of saying, “… and let’s all pretend it never really happened.”
The liberal media cynically omitted, of course, the obvious, legitimate advice that would have saved the man’s life and prevented injury to the woman and her child:
Go armed!
Be armed routinely, even on your casual walks and trips to the grocery store.
The media also fails to mention that expecting those who witness such incidents to get involved and come to your aid is mostly delusional, as we see. In fact, heroes who do try to help their neighbors when they are under attack (by dogs or violent felons) will be immediately labeled (by the same liberal media) as “vigilantes” who “took the law into their own hands.”
Widespread cultural disparagement of guns, gun-owners, and the entire concept of deadly-force in self-defense, unquestioningly embraced by leftist politicians and our leftist media, unfailingly leads to the automatic demonization of any American who boldly protects himself and family via gunfire, particularly when such righteous self-defense involves guns that are privately owned, kept, and carried.
To leftists, agendas are always more important than innocent lives
So, what are the chances?
You’re asking the wrong question!
When a “bad outcome” is sufficiently grievous, the mathematical probability of it actually happening becomes irrelevant, and a farcical argument!

Hello people? You are sick in the head when filming the attack is more important than helping the person being attacked.
I guess you are one of those, I don’t want to get involved people. Wait till it happens to you!!!!!
Film at 11.
“Be armed routinely, even on your casual walks and trips to the grocery store.”
“Games played with the ball and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.”
–Thomas Jefferson
Most people are sheep and expecting a sheep to save you is lunacy. If you are unarmed you deserve whatever misfortune befalls you. Its especially shameful if you have children to go out unarmed.
This is a good reminder that not all deadly threats are two-legged.
Why do you suppose that nearly every time the media talk about a fatal vehicle crash, they believe it necessary to inform you whether or not the victim was wearing a seat belt?
Why do you suppose that nearly every time the media talk about a fatal attack, they believe it is NOT necessary to inform you whether or not the victim was armed?
This is just one reason I refer to them as the N.O.T. (Narrative Over Truth) Media.
“…drop to the ground and “curl-up in a ball””. For myself, I would drop my left arm, to pick up my shirt, then draw my .45 before making all of those dogs drop to the ground. Better solution there.
Article said couple years ago, a man in Texas was riding his bicycle and was attacked by pack of dogs which tore the meat off his legs. He was taken to the hospital and later died. One Article from years ago, talked about a huge pack of dogs ioutside Denver n Colorado, when police were called, they couldn’t even get out of their patrol cars as the dogs were so aggressive. Every year there are news articles of packs of dogs attacking someone and mauling and killing them. If you are out for a walk, carry a hiking stick., knife… Read more »
Never trust a Pit Bull! One minute they’re nice. The next minute, they’re going for your throat!
I know. I had one go for my throat years ago. I shot it to death, right in front of its owner! He got mad and was going to call the Police! I said go ahead.
These are just a few incidents this year. I couldn’t find any stories on Yorkshire Terrier maulings. In 2025, several tragic incidents have highlighted the risks of aggressive behavior in pit bulls toward their own family members, often occurring without a history of violence. Recent Major Family Attack Cases (2025) Bacliff, Texas (October 2025): Two pit bull-type dogs fatally mauled their 45-year-old owner outside his home. Tuscarawas County, Ohio (July 2025): A family pit bull killed a 1-year-old girl inside her home. The mother sustained defensive wounds trying to stop the attack. The father, a veteran who credited the dog with helping… Read more »
The usual suspects, pit bulls, these owners should be charged. I am sick of hearing from the my pit is the sweetest thing ever. It simply is not true, genetics matter, the breed was bred to fight. Owner should be charged and people living there should wake up, if I got pit bulls wandering my neighborhood looking for people to attack they won’t be around long.
Good article. This would be tragic anywhere, but more so in a state like Texas where the victims could (and should) have been armed. Life-threatening attacks can come from two and four legged sources. I don’t even make the 20 yard walk to my mailbox without heat on me. I still think about the man and woman in North Carolina, a few years back, who were getting ready to take their pet cat to the vet’s office. Their security cameras caught an attack on the first the wife, then her husband by a rabid bobcat that seemed to come out… Read more »
